HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolution No. 1754RESOLUTION N0./ S`7' A Resolution of the'City Council of the City of Azusa determining that the public necessity and convenience require that certain portions of Paramount Avenue,Four— th Street,Sunset Avenue, Monte Vista Avenue, Louise Ave— nue, Lemon Avenue, and Orange Avenue within said City be improved from funds allocated by Los Angeles County out of its share of moneys collected from the levy of taxes on Motor Vehicle Fuel and distributed to said Coun— ty by the State of California for the 1941-1942 fiscal year. WHEREAS, the County of Los Angeles receives a distribution from the State of California out of its share of moneys collected from the levy of taxes on motor vehicle fuel and said Los Angeles County has al— located to the City of Azusa the sum of $3467.00 for the 1941-1942 fis— cal year for the improvement of streets within said City; and WHEREAS, the County of Los Angeles requires that the City of Azusa dAtermine and submit,for approval the streets which it proposes to improve from the funds allocated: NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the City Council of the City of Azusa hereby determines and declares that the public necessity and convenience require the improvement of the following described streets, to—wit: 1. PARAMOUNT AVENUE from Azusa Avenue to a line 1950 feet westerly of and parallel with the westerly line of said Azusa Avenue by the con— struction upon the existing disintegrated granite base of an asphalt— ic concrete (pre—mix) pavement, 15 feet in width and 1 1/4" in thick— ness, at a total estimated cost of $763.00 . 2. FOURTH STREET from Dalton Avenue to Pasadena Avenue by the construc— tion onstruc—tion of an asphaltic concrete (pre—mix) pavement upon the existing disintegrated granite base, 36 feet in width and 1 1/4" 1n thickness, at a total estimated cost of $$602.00 . 3. SUNSET AVENUE from Sixth Street to Foothill Boulevard by the construc— tion upon the existing bituminous macadam pavement of an asphaltic concrete (pre—mix) wearing surface, 48 feet in width and 1 1/4" in thickness, at a total estimated cost of $751.00 . 4. MONTE VISTA AVENUE from Fifth Street to Santa Fe Avenue by the con— struction upon the existing bituminous macadam pavement of an asphalt— ic concrete (pre—mix) wearing surface, 24 feet in width and 1 1/411 in thickness, at a total estimated cost of $595.00 . 5. LOUISE AVENUE from Sixth Street to Santa Fe Avenue for the repair and maintenance of the existing bituminous macadam pavement with asphaltic concrete (pre—mix), requiring 4400 sq.ft. of an average thickness of 1 112P1. at a total estimated cost of $104.00 . 6. LEMON AVENUE from Fifth Street to Foothill Boulevard for the repair and maintenance of the existing bituminous macadam pavement with as— phaltic concrete (pre—mix), requiring 13,200 sq.ft. of 1 1140 aver— age thickness, at a total estimated cost of $312.00 . 1. 7. ORANGE AVENUE from Fifth Street to Foothill Boulevard for the re- pair and maintenance of the existing bituminous macadam pavement with asphaltic concrete pre -mix), requiring 14,400 sq.ft. of an average thickness of 1 1ST°, at a total estimated cost of $ 340.00 . AND BE IT FURTHER RESOVED, that the City of Azusa will comply with the order of the Board of Supervisors of Los Angeles County, Cali- fornia, requiring the employment of able-bodied men from the relief rolls of said County when unskilled or semi -skilled men are required in the performance of the improvements hereinbefore described whether the said work is done by said City of Azusa or by City contractors. The City Clerk of the City of Azusa is hereby authorized and instructed to forward a certified copy of this resolution to Mr. O.F.
