HomeMy WebLinkAboutMinutes - April 21, 1924 - CCCITY HALL, AZUSA, CALIFORNIA. APRIL 21st, 1924 The Board of Trustees of the City- of :zusa, met in regular session at the above time and place. Present at roll call: Trustees: iaoon, I.:eier, Case, Chenoweth, Peirce, City Clerk and City Attorney, absent. 1, -one. The minutes of the reeular meeting held npril 7th, 1924 and of the regular adjourned meeting held April 11th, 1924 and of the Special .1deeting held April 11th, 1924 were read and approved as read. The City Clerk reported that the returns of the General L;unicipal 3lection held on :.ionday, the 14th day of April, 1924, in the City of Azusa, California were then and had been in his poss- ession in the envelopes containing them, in the same condition as when received, and the said Clerk presented said returns to the Board of Trustees at this meeting. It was thereupon moved by Trustees nugustt L. Meier, seconded by =orean J. Peirce, that the o and of Trustees proceed forthwith o canvass said returns. The motion was adopted by the following vote: AYES: Trustees: Morgan J. Peirce, Ira D. 1,loon, August L. Meier and L. Case. Howard.C.JChenoweth. 140ES: Done. ABSEIJT: 1,,one. Said motion, being carried, the Board of Trustees then proceeded forthwith to publicly examine and canvass said returns and upon the completion of said canvass by said Board it appeared that the whole number of votes cast in said City of ;zusa at said election was 623. GENERAL MUNICIPnL .;LECTION HELD IN THE SAID CITY ON APRIL 14th, 1924. The City Clerk then reported that he had caused to be entered in the ,:inute nook a statement of the result of said election, showing all matters required by law to be shown therein and that he had done so by copy- ing in the Resolution last hereinabove set forth in full. The City Clerk then read the minutes of this meeting up to this point, whereupon it was 'moved by 'Trustee -august LI,ieier, seconded by Trustee Lrorgan J. , ceirce he t e said minutes stand approved as read. The said motion was carried by the following vote. AYES: Trustees: Llorgan J. Peirce, Ira D. Lioar:, August L. i:eier, Howard C. Chenoweth, L. Case. NOES: None. AB6EIIT: None. . The Trustees elect, :._essrs. L. Case and Howard C. Chenoweth who were present at the meeting, at this point immediately took, sub- scribed and filed the constitutional oath of office as required by law, and took their seats at once with Trustees August L. Ideier, L:organ J. Peirce, Ira D. I,Ioon and the Board as thus'con- stituted proceeded fo-rthwith to organize by the election of a president thereof. 1dr. L. Case was nominated by August 1. :.ieier. No further nominations being made it was moved by August L. bleier and seconded by Ira D. '.'.loon that the nomination be closed and I,Ir. L. Case be declared elected: The motion was put by the City Attorney, H. P. Goodwin and was carried by the following vote. AYES. Trustees: Peirce, I:Ioon, Meier, Chenoweth. NOES: None. ABSENT: None. NOT VOTING: L. Case. 'The following Ordinance was presented: AN ORDINANCE REGULATING THE RECTION AND MAIN- TENANCE OF BLINIiEi? LIGHTS UPON AND ADJACENT TO ORDINANCE READ. PUBLIC HIGHuJAYS AND PROVIDING FOR THE ISSUANCE OF PERMITS FOR THE SAME AND PROVIDING A PENALTY FOR VIOLATION OF ANY OF THE PROVISIONS H_.REOF. The Ordinance was read. It was moved that the Ordinance be declared read for the first time and laid over to next meeting. Carried by the following vote: Ayes: Trustees: Moon, Meier, Case, Chenoweth, Peirce. HUBBARD'S PROPERTY. It was moved that the City Clerk be instructed to draw a warrant in favor of the 6ecretary of the Chamber of Commerce for W;;25.00 to help defray the cost of cleaning up the City. On motion duly carried the City Clerk was author- ized to sign up for a main line telephone to be put in the evenue Collector's office. It was moved that the Park Superintendent be authorized to put on an estra man for 21 days full time.
