RESOLUTION NO. 1646
A RESOLUTION OF THE,CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AZUSA, LOS ANGELES
COUNTY, CALIFORNIA, AILING A GENERAL kUNICIPAL ELECTION TO BE HELD
IN SAID CITY ON THE ``99TH DAY OF APRIL, 1940; AND GIVING A GENERAL
DESCRIPTION OF THE VOTING PRECINCTS AND LOCATION OF THE POLLING
PLACES;'FIXING,THE TIIiE THE POLLS SHALL BE OPEN; APPOINTING THE
ELECTION OFFICERS THEREFOR AND DIRECTING NOTICE TO BE GIVEN OF SUCH
ELECTION AS REgUIRED BY LAW.
The City Council of the City of Azusa does resolve as
follows:
That there be held in the City of Azusa, California, on
Tuesday the 9th day of.April, 1940, a general municipal election
by the qualified electors of said City of Azusa for the purpose of
electing _the following City Officers, to -wit:
Three members of the City Council, viz:
1i Two members for a full term of. four years
One member for a short term of two years
One City Clerk
One City Treasurer
Be it further resolved that the number of voting precincts
for the purpose of holding said election shall be two, to be known
as Consolidated Election Precincts "A" and "B". Said Consolidated
Election Precinct "A" shall consist of Azusa City Precincts Nos.
13 2 and 7 so designated and approved by the Los Angeles County
Board of Supervisors, for State and County election purposes, and
the polling place for said Consolidated Election Precinct "A" is
hereby located in the City Hall Building in Block 30 of the City of
Azusa, Los Angeles County, California, between Alameda Avenue and
Dalton Avenue. Said Consolidated Election Precinct "B" shall con-
sist of Azusa City Precincts Nos. 3, 41 5 and 6 so designated and
approved by the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors, for State
and County election purposes, and the polling place for Consolidated
Election Precinct "B" is hereby located in the Riley School Building
in Block 49 of the City of Azusa, Los Angeles County, California,
between Pasadena Avenue and Soldano Avenue.
That the Board of Election for such Consolidated Election
Precinct "A" is.hereby appointed as follows:
Inspector: IdarieLPettyjohn
Judge: Lydia H. Jester
Clerk: Edith B. Demmitt
Clerk: Idabel G. Richards
That the Board of Election for such Consolidated Election
Precinct "B" is hereby appointed as follows:
Inspector: Virginia Hertensteinn Memmesheimer
Judge: Clarabe'lle B. Jones
Clerk: Inez Cleveland
Clerk: Gertie Rush

That the polls of said election must be opened at 6
o'clock A. U. of the date of election and must be kept open until
7 oTclock P. M. of said day, when the polls shall be closed except
and provided however that if at the hour of closing there are any.
other voters in the polling place or in line at the door who are.
qualified to vote and have not been able to do so since their
appearing, the,polls shall be kept open -a sufficient time to
enable them to vcte.
That notice of this election and list of nominees shall
be published by the City Clerk as required by law in the Azusa
Herald and Pomotropic.
Be it further resolved that the Mayor shall sign this
Resolution and the City Clerk attest and certify to the passage
and adoption thereof. ,,

I hereby certify that the foregoing Resolution was
regularly adopted by the City Council of the City of Azusa at a
regular meeting of the said Council held in the regular Council
Chambers of said City Council in said City on the 19th day of
��ebruary, 194 and that the same was passed by the following
