A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF.AZUSA, LOS ANGELES COUNTY, CAL-
IFORNIA, FIXING SALARIES FOR CERTAIN
EMPLOYEES.
The City Council of the City of Azusa does
resolve as follows:
WHEREAS, Otis Martin, who was heretofore employed
as truckman, has been made Foreman in the Street Department,
and is also in charge of.the roller in its.use on the
streets and is also relief man in other departments,
THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that effective July.'
1, 1939 and subject to provisions hereinafter stated and
to any further action of the Council at any time, that the
salary of said Otis Martin be, and the same is hereby
fixed at $150.00 per month, and
WHEREAS, S. G. Cleveland, who has heretofore
been employed as laborer, has now been named as ctruckman,
and
V1HEREASI Edmund Thompson, who has been employed
heretofore by said City as Patrolman, has been made Motor-
cycle. Officer, and
WHEREAS, Cathryn Calvert has heretofore been
employed.as Deputy City Clerk, and whereas, the work of
said Deputy City Clerk has been greatly increased by
additional duties required under the law,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that said S. G.
Cleveland's salary as truckman is fixed at the sum of
tip125.00 per month, the salary of Edmund Thompson, as
1dotorcAe Officer is fixed at $150.00 per month, and that
the salaryof Cathryn Calvert, as Deputy City Clerk, is
fixed at $110.00 per month, all however subject to the
provisions hereinafter stated'and to anyfurther action
of this Council at any time.
All of said increases in salaries to be,effective
July,' 1, 1939.
Said employees shall hold such employment at
the pleasure of said Council. Upon termination of any
employment hereunder, whether by reason of death, action
of the Council declaring the employment vacated, declaring
the termination thereof or for any reason whatsoever,
such employee shall be paid to the date of such termina-
tion only (and not for any unexpired portion of the then
calendar month), such payment for that month to be at a
per diem rate from and including the first day of the then,
calendar month in the same proportion of the amount of
his salary as the days employed by the said employee in
that month bear to 30 days.
The Mayor shall sign this Resolution and the
City Clerk shall attest and certify to the passage and
adoption thereof.

I do hereby certify that the foregoing
Resolution was regularly adopted by the City Council of
the City of Azusa at a regular meeting of said Council
held in the regular Council Chambers of said City Council
in said City on the 17th day of July, 1939, and that the
same was passed by the following vote of the Council:
