HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolution No. 1612RESOLUTION NO..,1i/,LP A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AZUSA DETERMINING THAT THE PUBLIC NECESSITY AIAID..CONVENIENCE REQUIRE THAT SECOND STREET, THIRD STREET, FOURTH STREET, AND SOLDANO AVENUE WITHIN SAID.CITY BE IMPROVED FROM FUNDS ALLOCATED BY LOS ANGELES'COUNTY OUT OF ITS SHARE OF MONEYS COLLECTED FROM THE LEVY OF TAXES ON MOTOR VEHICLE FUEL AND DISTRIBUTED TO SAID COUNTY BY THE STATE OF CALIFORNIA FOR THE 1939-1940 FISCAL YEAR. WHEREAS, the County of Los Angeles receives a distribution from the State of California out of its share of moneys collected from the levy of taxes on motor vehicle fuel and said Los Angeles County has in the past distributed portions of said moneys so collected.to the respective cities within said County; and WHEREAS, -there are certain streets within said City which are now in a bad condition owing to lack of funds in the City Treasury to effect repairs thereof; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Board of Supervisors of said Los Angeles County be requested to allocate to the City of Azusa the sum of 012,000 for the purpose of improving said streets, and the City Council of the City of Azusa after a careful and thorough survey of the respective streets within said City which are at this time in need of repair, hereby determines and declares that the public necessity and convenience require the improvement of the following described streets and portions thereof: 1. SECOND STREET from Pasadena Avenue to Dalton Avenue be improved by grading that portion thereof lying between a line 17 feet northerly and southerly of and parallel with the center line thereof, except that portion thereof where there now exists a 16 foot width of macadam pavement, and the construction upon such graded areas of a 4" disintegrated granite base, and the con- struction of an asphaltic concrete (pre -mix) wearing surface two inches in thickness over the disintegrated granite base and exist- ing macadam pavement of a total width of 30 feet, at a total estimated cost of x;1040.00 . 2. SECOND STREET from Dalton Avenue to Alameda Avenue be improved by grading the entire width.between existing curb lines (36 feet), except that portion thereof where there now exists a 16 foot width macadam pavement, and the construction upon such graded areas of a 4" disintegrated granite base, and the construct- ion of an asphaltic concrete (pre -mix) wearing surface two inches In thickness over the disintegrated granite base and existing macadam pavement of a total width of 36 feet, at a total estimated cost of 0590.00 . 3. THIRD STREET from Pasadena Avenue to San Gabriel Avenue be improved by grading that portion thereof lying between a line 17 feet northerly of and southerly of and parallel with the center line thereof, except that portion thereof where there now exists a 16 foot macadam pavement, and the construction upon such graded areas of a 4" disintegrated granite base, and the construction of an asphaltic concrete (pre -mix) wearing surface two inches in thickness over the disintegrated granite base and existing macadam pavement of a total width of 30 feet, at a total estimated cost of $2540.00 . 4. THIRD STREET from San Gabriel Avenue to Virginia Avenue be improved by grading that portion thereof from San Gabriel Avenue to Angeleno Avenue lying between a line 15 feet northerly and southerly of and parallel with the center line thereof, except that portion thereof where there now exists a'16 foot width macadam pavement, and the construction upon such graded areas of a 4" disintegrated granite base, and the construction of an aspnaitic concrete (pre -mix) wearing surface two inches in thickness over said disintegrated granite base, and over the disintegrated granite which is now in place from Angeleno Avenue to Virginia Avenue, and over the existing macadam pavement of a total width of 24 feet, at a total estimated cost of $2320.00 . 5. FOURTH STREET from Pasadena Avenue to San Gabriel Avenue be improved by grading that portion thereof lying between the existing curb lines (36 feet in width), except that portion thereof where there now exists a 16 foot width macadam pavement, and the construction upon such graded areas of a 4" disintegrated, granite base, and the construction•of an asphaltic concrete (pre- mix) wearing surface two inches in thickness over the disintegrated granite base and existing macadam pavement of a total width of 36 feet, at a total estimated cost of $2950.00 . 6. FOURTH STREET from San Gabriel Avenue to Angeleno Avenue be improved by grading that portion thereof lying between a line 15 feet northerly and southerly of and parallel with the center line thereof, except that portion thereof where there now exists a 16 foot macadam pavement, and the construction upon such graded areas of a 4" disintegrated granite base, and the construction of an asphaltic concrete (pre-mix)wearing surface two inches in thickness over the disintegrated granite base and existing macadam pavement of a total width,of 24 feet, at a total estimated cost of $770.00 . 7. SOLDANO AVENUE from Second Street to Third Street be improved by grading the area thereof lying between the existing curb lines (48 feet in width), except that portion thereof where there now exists a 20 foot width of macadam pavement, and the construction upon such graded areas of a 411 disintegrated granite base, and the construction of an asphaltic concrete (pre -mix) wearing surface over the disintegrated granite base and existing macadam pavement of a total width of 48 feet, at a totaltestimated cost of $1790.00 Total estimated cost of all streets proposed to be improved as given above is $12,000.00 . AND BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that in.connection with the construction of said.improvements; the City of Azusa will furnish at its own cost and expense the services of its Street Superinten- dent, and the use of one 12 ton Road Roller, one patrol'grader, three trucks, and such other equipment that the City now has in order that said work may completed in a satisfactory and expeditious manner._ The City Clerk of the City of Azusa is hereby directed and authorized to forward a certified copy of this resolution to the Board of Supervisors of Los Angeles County, California.
