HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolution No. 1611RESOLUTION NO. /6// A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AZUSA REQUESTING THAT THE DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC WORKS OF THE STATE OF CALIFORNIA APPROVE CERTAIN PORTIONS OF PASA— DENA AVENUE AND ELEVENTH STREET WITHIN SAID CITY AS STREETS OF MAJOR IMPORTANCE. WHEREAS, certain portions of Pasadena Avenue and Eleventh Street within the City of Azusa should at this time be improved by the construction thereupon of a wearing surface of asphaltic concreAm (pre—mix) and also the construction along certain portions of said streets curb and gutter to improve drainage conditions, but for which the City of Azusa has no funds to construct these improvements; and WHEREAS, said portions of said streets are not now approved as "Streets of Major Importanoe," and, therefore, no improvements can be constructed thereupon from gas tax funds allocated by the Department of Public Works of the State of California, but such streets do cons neot with other streets which now form a part of the system of Streets of L',ajor Importance within said City, and are continually used by the travelling public as such; NOW, THEREFORE. BE IT RESOLVED, that the City Council of the City of Azusa hereby determines and declares that the public interest and necessity require that Pasadena Avenue from the northerly line of Tenth Street to the southerly line of Eleventh Street, and Eleventh Street from the easterly line of Azusa Avenue to the easterly termina— tion of said Eleventh Street within said City should form and be a part of the system of "Streets of Major Importance " within the City of Azusa, and that Paul E. Kressly, City Engineer, be and he is here— by directed and authorized to make application for and on behalf of the City of Azusa to the Department of Public Works of the State of California for its approval of said hereinabove described streets as "Streets of Major Importance," and to prepare the necessary maps and forward the same together with the required number of certified copies of this resolution to the said Department of Public Works of the State of California. The City Clerk of the City of Azusa is hereby directed to cer- 1. tify to the copies of this resolution hereinbefore mentioned.
