SURPLUS FUNDS TO AID CITIES AND COUNTIES IN
THE CONSTRUCTION OF ESSENTIAL PUBLIC WORKS.

within the City engaged in the manufacture of war materials
and to an increased population of 20% over that of 1940;
and
WHEREAS, the present condition of the water distribu-
tion system is such that 42% of the pipe lines should be
renewed or replaced at once in order that consuiner,s may be
furnished with an adequate and uninterrupted supply of
water, and for public uses and fire protection purposes;
and

extensions to the water distribution system,
NOW, THEREFORE, IT IS HEREBY RESOLVED by the City
Council of the City of Azusa, California, that the
Legislature of the State of California be urgently request-
ed to appropriate the sum of approximately $900000,000.00
out of State surplus funds, to be allocated to Cities and
Counties in proportion to their respective 1940 populations;
that any moneys so allocated and paid to the City of Azusa
