HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolution No. 1864M 1 RESOLUTION NO. 1864 2 RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL, CITY OF AZUSA, CALIFORNIA, AUTHORIZING AND INSTRUCTING THE CITY 3 TREASURER AND CITY TAX COLLECTOR IN RESPECT TO THE OFFICIAL RECORDS OF THE CITY, AND OF SAID 4 CITY TREASURER AND CITY TAX COLLECTOR RESPECTING SPECIAL ASSESSMENTS AND TAX LIENS ON TAX DEEDED B PROPERTY. n 711 THAT WHEREAS, this Council has heretofore instituted and 8 is now engaged in a comprehensive program to restore to a tax paying 9 basis all tax deeded property situated within the City, whether tax 10 deeded to the State of California or to the City of Azusa, or to 11 both said State and said City; and 12 WHEREAS, in order to accomplish the restoration of tax 13 deeded properties to a tax paying basis,the City of Azusa has here - 14 tofore acquired the interest of the State of California in and to 15 many of such properties; and 16 WHEREAS, the statutes of the State of California provide 17 that upon the acquisition by the City of the Status interest 18 in tax deeded property, the right of redemption is terminated and 19 the City becomes the owner of such property, subject only to the 20 City's tax deeds or to taxes levied by the City, or to unpaid 21 special assessments, if any, against such tax deeded property; and 22 WHEREAS, it appears to this Council that the Official 23 Records of the City and of the City Tax Collector and City Treasurer 24 should reflect the true condition of tax deeded properties and the 25 special assessments levied against such properties. 26 NOW, THEREFORE, the City Council of the City of Azusa 27 does hereby resolve, order, authorize and instruct as follows: 28 First: That as to all parcels of real property to which 29 1�he City has heretofore acquired by purchase of tax deeds the interest 30 f the State of California thereto, the City Treasurer is hereby 31 uthorized and instructed to immediately ascertain which of said 32 properties, if any, are encumbered with special assessments levied 1. 1 2 3 4 5 e 7 8 9 10 11 12 13 14 15 18 17 18 19 20 21 22 23 24 25 28 27 28 29 30 31 32 pursuant to the provisions of the Improvement Bond Act of 1915; gnd to immediately thereafter cause each and all of the Official Records of said City and of the said City Treasurer pertaining to such special assessments, liens upon such properties, to be plainly marked, "Cancelled by tax deed." Second: That as to all parcels of real property to which the City has heretofore acquired by purchase of tax deeds the intere i of the State of California thereto, the City Tax Collector is hereby authorized and instructed to immediately cause each and all of the Official Records of the City and of the City Tax Collector pertainin to all taxes and assessments levied against such properties to be plainly marked, "Cancelled by tax deed". Third: That the City Clerk is hereby authorized and instructed to deliver a certified copy of this Resolution to the City Treasurer and to the City Tax Collector.
