Present at roll call: Trustees: Moon, Meier, Case, Chenoweth, Peirce, City Clerk and City Attorney. Absent: None. The minutes of the regular meeting held June 16th and of the regular adjourned meeting held July 3rd, 1924 were read and approved as read.. 7:30 P. M. 351 'On motion regularly carried the request of REQUEST OF P. J. QUINN FOR Peter J. Quinn for permission to construct a PERMISSION TO CONSTRUCT A driveway to the Catholic Rectory was granted, DRIVEWAY TO THE CATHOLIC the work to be done under the supervision of RECTORY WAS GRANTED. the Street Superintendent. A petition requesting an amendment to the License PETITION REQUESTING AN Ordinance to permit moving pictures on Sundays AMENDMENT TO THE LICENSE was presented and on motion duly carried the ORDINANCE REFERRED TO matter was refdrred to the Chamber of Commerce C. OF C. for recommendation. The request of the Southern Counties Gas Company for permission to execavate across Centre Street to supply gas service to the rerckhoff-Cuzner Mill and Lumber Company be granted, such work to be done under the supervision of the Street Superintendent. It was moved that the written request of the Azusa Irrigating Company, dated July 7, 1924 for a per- mit to install for temporary use a gas engine to operate wells on Tenth and Eleventh Street be granted upon the express condition that said per- mit will be surrendered for revocation and revok- ed by the City forthwith upon notice by the City to said Azusa Irrigating Company that the City can furnish electric energy and that thereupon the use of gas engine by said permitee be immedia- tely discontinued and electric power immediately substituted. The Azusa Irrigating Company is re- quested to accept this permit in writing as a condition precedent to the taking effect of the same. Carried by the following vote: Ayes: Trustees: Moon, Meier, Case, Chenoweth, Perice. Noes: None. Absent: None. On motion duly carried J. E. Daugherty was granted a two weeks vacation commencing July 14, 1924. REQUEST OF SO. COS. GAS CO. TO EXCAVATE FOR GAS SERVICE GRANTED. AZUSA IRRIGATING COMPANY GRANTED PERMIT TO INSTALL FOR TEMPORt ARY USE A GAS ENGINE. Letters were received from the Chamber of Commer- ce on various subjects and were acted upon as follows: . Relative to the matter of removal of wooden awnings it was moved that the Secretary of the Chamber of Commerce be requested to draft such an ordinance as he has in mind and present the same ' to the Board for its consideration. Relative to the matter of removal of trees it was moved that thhamber of Commerce be noti- fied that it is the Bo rd to consider each case on its merits by consideration of a petition or writ- ten request of property owner or owners affected. Relative to the matter of curb signs. This matter was referred to the Public 111orks Committ- ee on April 21 with power to act. Relative to matter of garbage collection. It was moved that the Chamber of Commerce be re- quested to suggest some plan. Relative to matter of joint session it was moved that the invitation be accepted and the date set not less than three weeks in advance so that a full attendance may be arranged for. J. E. M. 353 On motion duly carried the request of Leon Stotlar for permission to install two gaso- line pumps with 550 gallon tanks in partway on 'Seat Centre Street be granted, such work to be done under the supervision of the Street Superintendent. It was moved that'the Superintendent of Light and Water be authorized to purchase the follow- ing supplies: Parts for 5/8 water meters 100 Cross arm braces 200 Carriage bolts Carried by the following vote: Ayes. Trustees: Moon, Meier, Case, Chenoweth, Peirce. Noes: None. Absent: None. LEON STOTLAR GRANTED PER- MISSION TO INSTALL TWO GASOLINE PUMPS IN PARKWAY ON WEST CENTRE STREET WATER & LIGHT SUPT. AUTHOR- IZED TO PURCHASE SUPPLIES. It was moved that the matter of employment of EMPLOYMENT OF CITIZEN TO a citizen to ciroulate the Initiative Petition CIRCULATE THE INITIATIVE for distribution of gasoline tax be referred PETITION FOR DISTRIBUTING to the City Clerk with power to act. The following Ordinance was presented: AN ORDINANCE ESTABLISHING THE GRADE OF A PORT- ION OF.SAN GABRIEL AVENUE IN THE CITY OF AZUSA. The Ordinance was read. It was moved that the Ordinance be declared. read for the first time and laid over to next meet- ing. Carried by the following vote: ayes: Trustees: Moon, I,4eier, Case, Chenoweth, Peirce. Noes: None. Absent: None. The following Ordinance was presented: 'AN ORDINANCE OF THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF THE CITY OF AZUSA GRANTING A RIGHT OF WAY TO THE AZUSA IRRIGATING COMPANY TO LAY A PIPE LINE ON A PORT- ION OF ELEVENTH STREET, IN THE CITY OF AZUSA. The Ordinance was read. On motion duly carried the Ordinance was declared read for the second time and taken up for its third reading and final passage. The•Ordinance'.was read. It was moved that the same be. -adopted as read. Carried by the following vote: Ayes: Trustees: Moon, Meier, Case, Chenoweth, Peirce. Noes: None. Absent: None. The following Resolution was presented: RESOLVED: That the City Clerk of the City of Azusa, and the President of the Board of Trustees, be and they are hereby authorized to make, execute and. deliver to Union Rock Company and Bank of America, an agreement between the City of Azusa as First Party, Union Rock Company as Second Party and Bank of America as Third Party, relative to a provision for a condition subsequent in any and all deeds executed by Third Party to any portion of Lots 11, 12, 26 and 27 of Subdivision No. 2., of 'Azusa Land and Water Company as per map recorded in Book 43, Page 94, Miscellaneous Records of Los Angeles County, California. Carried by the following vote: Ayes. Trustees: Moon, Meier, Case, Chenoweth, Peirce. Noes: None. Absent: None. ORDINANCE READ. The following Resolution was presented: RESOLVED: That the City Clerk of the City of Azusa and the President of the Board of Trustees of the City of Azusa, be and they are hereby authorized to accept on behalf of said City that certain corpora- tion d.eed executed by Union Rock Company, a corpora- tion in favor of said City under date of March 17, 1924, and to cause the same to be recorded in the Records of the County Recorder of said Los Angeles ORDINANCE NO. 232 ADOPTED. It was moved that the City Attorney and the Consulting Engineer be authorized to attend a hearing before the Railroad Commission rela- tive to the matter of raising electric rates. Carried by the following vote: Ayes: Trustees: Moon, Meier, Case, Chenoweth, Peirce. Noes: None. Absent: None. CITY ATTORNEY AND CONSULTING ENGINEER AUTHORIZED TO ATTEND HEARING•BEFORE THE R.R.
