HomeMy WebLinkAboutMinutes - August 4, 1924 - CCCITY HALL , AZUSA, CALIFORNIA. BUGUST 4th, 1924 The Board of Trustees of the City of Azusa met in regular session at the above time and place. Present at roll call: Trustees: Moon, Meier, Case, Chenoweth, City Clerk and City Attorney. Absent: Trustee: Pierce. The minutes of the regular meeting held July 21st and of the regular adjourned meeting held July 31st, 1924 were read and approved as read. It was moved that the action of Trustees Case 'and Meier in expending $240.00 for advertising purposes be. ratified and approved. Carried by the following vote: Ayes: Trustees. Moon, Meier, Case, Chenoweth, Roes: None. Absent: Trustee. Pierce. 7:30 P. M. 367 ACTION OF TRUS`IE ES CASE AND MEIER RATIFIED AND APPROV ED . It was moved that the Street Superintendent be STREET SUPERINTENDENT instructed to pave the apron to the alley between I14STRUCTED TO PAVE APRON Azusa and San Gabriel Avenues on Center Street TO ALLEY BETWEEN AZUSA as requested by letter from Vosburg Bros. Inc., & SAN GABRIEL AVENUES. dated August 4, 1924. Carried by the following vote: Ayes: Trustees: Moon, Meier, Case, Chenoweth. Noes: None. Absent: Trustee: Pierce. On motion duly carried Maurice Jones was granted one week vacation commencing August 3rd, 1924. On motion duly carried the request of S. Winokur for the removal of the pepper tree in front of his property on Center Street was granted. MAURICE JONES GRANTED VACATION. S. WINOXUR'S REQUEST FOR REMOVAL OF.PEPPER TREE GRANTED. On motion the request of C. E. Archer for the C. E. ARCHER'S REQUEST removal of the pepper trees from in front of Lots FOR RF2410VAL OF PEPPER 5-6-7 in Block 28 was granted; and the request TREES GRANTED* for the removal of pepper trees from in front of Lots REMOVAL OF PEPPER-TRM 3 and 4 in Block 27 was referred to the Planning FROM IN FRONT OF CERTAIN Commission. LOTS REFERRED TO P. C. An application and petition was received from Herman L. Grey for appointment as Police Officer and on motion the same was referred to the Sani- tary and Police Committee to report at next meet- ing. Carried by the following vote: Ayes. Trustees. Moon, Meier, Case, Chenoweth. Noes: None. Absent: Trustee: Pierce.. APPLICATION AND PETITION OF HERMAN L. GREY RE- FERRED TO SANITARY AND POLICE COMMITTEE FOR REPORT AT NEXT I.METING. It was moved that a warrant be drawn on the Street WARRANT ORDERED DRA17N 'Rork Bond Fund No. 2 for 015.95 owing the Dixie IN FAVOR OF DIXIE OIL CO. Oil Company; said warrant to be payable to the TO BE 14ADE PAYABLE TO Revenue Collector of the City of Azusa to cover REVENUE COLLECTOR TO unpaid light and water bills of said Company. COVER UNPAID LIGHT & Carried by the following vote: Ayes: Trustees: Moon,S'JATER BILLS OF SAID CO. Meier, Case, Chenoweth. Noes: None. Absent: Trustee: Pierce. The following Ordinance was presented: AN ORDINANCE OF THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF THE CITY 'OF AZUSA AMENDING SECTION 32 OF ORDINANCE 1109 191 OF SAID CITY, ENTITLED: "All CEDINP.NCE OF THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF THE CITY OF AZUSA, LICENSING ARID REGULATING CERTAIN FINDS OF BUSINESS CARRIED ON IN SAID CITY AND FIXING A PENALTY FOR TIC VIOLATION THEREOF, AND REPEALING ORDINANCES NO. 130 AND NO. 180 OF SAID CITY AND ALL OTHER ORDINANCES OF SAID CITY IN CONFLICT EWITH", adopted May 27, 1918. The Ordinance was read. It was moved that the Ordinance be declared read for the first time and laid over to next meeting. Carried by the following vote: Ayes: Trustees: Moon, Meier, Case, Chenoweth, Noes. Done. Absent: Trustee: Pierce. ORDINANCE READ. MINUTES OF MEETING HELD AUGUST 4th, 1924 7:30 P. M. .369 The following Ordinance was presented. AN ORDINANCE OF THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF THE CITY OF AZUSA AMENDING ORDINANCE NO. 231 OF SAID CITY ENTITLED; "AN ORDIN NCE OF THE BOARD OF.TRUSTEES OF THE_CITY OF AZUSA ESTABLISHING THE.RATES FOR ELECTRIC SERVICE FOR SAID CITY FOR (1) DOMESTIC AND COMMERCIAL LIGHTING RATE; (2) COMBINED LIGHTING, HEATING AND COOKING RATE; (3) GENERAL POWER RATE, AND REPEALING ALL OR- DINANCES OR PORTIONS OF ORDINANCE OF SAID CITY IN CONFLICT HEREWITH", adopted :June 2nd, 1924, BY ALiENDING SECTION 1, OF SAID ORDINANCE IN RE- LATION TO RATES FOR DOIESTIC AND COMIIERCIAL LIGHTING RATE, AND REPEALING ALL ORDINANCES OR PORTIONS OF ORDINANCES OF SAID CITY IN CONFLICT HEREWITH. The Ordinance was read. It was moved that the Ordinance be declared read for the first. time and 1&id over to next meeting. Carried by the following vote: Ayes: Trustees: Moon, ideier, Case, Chenoweth. Noes: None. Absent: Trustee: Pierce. c On motion duly carried the offer of Lir. F. S. Lack made through Mr. L. U. Coffee to donate 6 acres for park purposes was referred to the Plan- ning Commission. It was moved that Iar. Barker be instructed to -write a letter to the Bartlett Nu Why Corporation relative to the light, power and water rates. It was moved that when the Board adjourn, it ad- journ to meet August 11, 1924 at 7:30 P. M. It was moved that the schedule of payment for Surveying engineer be fixed at the rate of $2.00 per hour; for transit men $1.00 per hour and for rodmen 50¢ per hour. Carried by the following vote: Ayes: Trustees: Moon, Meier, Case, Chenoweth. Noes: Hone. 2bsant: Pierce. It was moved that the following bills be allowed and warrants ordered drawn upon the Treasury for the same. Carried by the following vote: Ayes: Trustees: Boon, Meier, Case, Chenoweth. Noes: None.
