HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolution No. 3039RESOLUTION NO. *49 RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AZUSA, CALIFORNIA, DETERMINING THE GENERAL PREVAILING RATE OF PER DIEM WAGE AND THE GENERAL PREVAILING RATE FOR LEGAL HOLIDAY AND OVERTIME WORK IN THE CITY OF AZUSA FOR CERTAIN CRAFTS OR TYPES OF WORKMEN. (Assessment District No. 1953=7) WHEREAS, this City Council has ordered certain street work or improvement, said work or improvement being more particularly -described in its Resolution No. 3014 adopted by this City Council on May 24, 1954; and WHEREAS, this City Council has ascertained the general prevailing rate of per diem wages in the locality in which said work is to be performed for each craft or type of workman needed to execute the contract for said work, and this City Council has ascertained the general prevailing rate for legal holiday and overtime work•in said locality for each craft or type of workman needed to execute said contract; NOW, THEREFORE, the City Council of'the City of Azusa, California, DOES HEREBY RESOLVE, DETERMINE AND ORDER as follows: Section 1. That the general prevailing rate of per diem wages in the locality in which said work is to be performed for each craft or type of workman needed to execute the contract for said work is determined to be as follows, to wit: 2. Eight hours shall constitute a day's work; it being understood that in the event that workmen are employed less than an eight (8) hours per day, the per diem wages shall be deemed to be that fraction of the per diem wages herein established that the number of hours of employment bears to eight (8) hours. FOREMEN: All foremen not herein separately classified shall be paid not less than 17-1/2 cents per hour more than the hourly rate of the highest classification over which they have supervision. 3. • APPRENTICES: May be employed in conformity with Section 1777.5 of the California•Labor Code. The general prevailing rates for overtime work in said locality for each craft or type of workman needed to execute said contract are determined to be as follows: CARPENTERS•AND IRONWORKERS -- Double time for all overtime. CEMENT MASONS -- Time and one-half for the first three hours after the regularly constituted straight time shift; and all other overtime shall be double time: LABORERS, TRUCK DRIVERS AND OPERATING ENGINEERS Time and one-half except Sundays and holidays which are double time. WATCHMAN -- Time and one-half for all time worked in excess of eight (8) hours per day and for the sixth consecutive day worked; double time for the seventh consecutive day worked. Watchmen shall also receive time and one-half for holidays, except where a holiday falls on the seventh consecutive day worked, which shall be double time. ALL OTHER CRAFTS AND TYPES OF WORKMEN -- Not less than one and one-half times said prevailing hourly rate of wage. Said rates are determined to be the general pre - mailing rates for working time on Sundays and the following seven legal holidays, to wit: New Year's Day, Decoration Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Armistice Day, Thanksgiving Day and Christmas Day. If any of the above named holidays occur on Sunday, the Monday next succeeding shall be considered a legal holiday.. Section 2.
