CALIFORNIA FL69TWOOD 4.1204 RESOLUTION NO. 3174 RESOLUTION DECLARING THAT PROCEEDINGS HAVE BEEN INITIATED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AZUSA, LOS ANGELES COUNTY, CALIFORNIA, TO ANNEX TO SAID CITY CERTAIN UNINHABITED TERRITORY DESCRIBED HEREIN AI4D DESIGNATED "EASTERLY ANNEXATION DISTRICT NO. 5" AND GIVING NOTICE OF THE PROPOSED ANNEXATION, BE IT RESOLVED BY THF. CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AZUSA: 1. That, pursuant to the provisions of the Annexation of Uninhabited Territory Act of 1939, proceedings have been initiated by the City Council of the City of Azusa, Los Angeles County, California, on its own motion, to annex to the City of Azusa all that uninhabited territory situate in the County of Los Angeles, State of California, herein designated as "Easterly Annexation District No. 5" and described as follows: All that real property situated in the County of Los Angeles, State of California, described as follows: Beginning at the intersection of the easterly line of Cerritos Avenue, 80 feet wide as shown on Map of Subdivision No. 1 of lands of Azusa Land & Water Co. recorded in Book 16, pages 17 and 18 of Miscellaneous Records in the office of the Recorder of said county with the northerly line of Lot 11 in Block I of said Subdivision No. 1, said intersection being a point in the easterly boundary of the City of Azusa as same existed on December 1, 1954; thence easterly along said northerly line and continuing easterly along the northerly line of Lot 5 in said block to the westerly line of that certain unnamed street 40 feet wide (known as Los Angeles Street and being the westerly half of a street shown on said map as 80 feet wide) lying along the easterly side of Blocks I. F and E in said subdivision No. 1; thence southerly in a direct line to a point in said westerly line distant southerly thereon 18 feet from the southerly line of Third Street 60 feet wide (now vacated) as shown on said map; thence easterly parallel with the south line of Township 1 North, Range 10 ?fest, S.B.B. & P.R. to the westerly line of Citrus Avenue 65 feet wide as shown on map of Tract No. 16384 recorded in Book 536, pages 49 and 50 of ?.Taps in the office of said recorder; thence northerly along said last mentioned westerly line to the westerly prolongation of the northerly line of Lot 15 of said tract; thence easterly along said prolognation and continuing easterly, northerly and easterly along the boundary of said tract to the most easterly northeasterly corner thereof; thence easterly, southerly and westerly along the north, east and south lines of the southeast quarter of the northwest quarter of the southwest quarter of Section 36, said township and range to the southwest corner of said southeast quarter; thence westerly along the south line of the southwest quarter of the northwest quarter of the _L. 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10 11 12 13 14 15 16 17 18 19 20 21 22 23 24 25 26 27 28 29 30 31 32 P. CALIFORNIA FLEETWOOD 4.1204 0 is southwest quarter of said Section 36 and the westerly prolongation thereof to the westerly line of Citrus Avenue 65 feet wide as shown on said map of Tract DTD. 20498 recorded in Book 525,, pages 18 to 21 inclusive of said Maps; thence southerly along said last mentioned westerly line and continuing southerly along the westerly line of Citrus Avenue 65 feet wide as shown on map of tract 20499 recorded in Book 537, pages 15 to 21 inclusive of said Maps to a point distant northerly thereon 182 feet from said south line of Township 1 North, Range 10 'Rest, S.B.B. ALT.; thence westerly parallel with said last mentioned south line to the easterly line of said certain unnamed street 40 feet wide (said last mentioned easterly line being shown on said lisp of Subdivision No. 1 as the center line of an 80 foot street); thence southerly along said last mentioned easterly line to the center line of First Street 80 feet wide as shown on said last mentioned map; thence westerly along said last mentioned center line to the boundary of said City of Azusa; thence northerly along said last mentioned boundary to the point of beginning. 2. That the Council of said City of Azusa desires to annex said uninhabited territory to the City of Azusa for the following reasons: The territory is contiguous to the City of Azusa, and its proposed annexation will contribute to and facilitate the orderly growth and development of both the City and the territory proposed to be annexed; will facilitate and contribute to the proper and orderly layout, design and construction of streets, gutters, sidewalks, sanitary and storm water sewers and drainage facilities, both within the City and within the territory proposed to be annexed; and will provide and facilitate proper overall planning and zoning of lands, and subdivision of lands in said City and said uninhabited territory, in a manner most conducive to the welfare of said City and said uninhabited territory. 3. That the County Boundary Commission of Los Angeles County California, did in session duly assembled on Wednesday, February 9, 1955, approve the proposed annexation boundaries of said "Easterly Annexation District No. 5" as above described, and as submitted to said Commission by the Council of the City of Azusa. 4, That Monda April 4th _, 19 55 at the hour of 7: in the Council Chambers in the City Hall in the City of Azusa, County of Los Angeles, California, is hereby fixed as the time and place when and where any person owning real property within the uninhabited territory above described and proposed to be annexed to the City of Azusa, and having any objections to the proposed annexation, may appear before the Counci of the City of Azusa and show cause why such uninhabited territory should not be so annexed to said City of Azusa. Such protest must be in writing, may be filed at any time before the hour set for hearing objections to the proposed annexation, and shall state the name or names of the owner or owners of property affected, and the description and area of such property, in general terms. 5. The City Clerk of the City of Azusa is hereby authorized and directed to cause a copy of this resolution to be published at least twice, but not oftener than once a week, in the Azusa Herald & Pomotropic, a newspaper of general circulation published in said City of Azusa, the city to which it is proposed tQ annex the afore- said territory, and also in The Pasadena Star -news —2-. 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10 11 12 13' 14 15 16 17 18 19 20 21 22 23 24 25 26 27 28 29 30 31 32 P. CALIFORNIA FLEETWOOD 4.1204 0 0 a newspaper of general circulation published outside the City of Azusa, but in the County of Los Angeles, California, the county in which is located the territory proposed to be annexed to the City of Azusa, said publication to be complete at least twenty (20) days prior to the date set for hearing. 6. The City Clerk is further authorized and directed to caul written notice of such proposed annexation to be mailed to each person to whom land within the territory proposed to be annexed is assessed in the last equalized county assessment roll available on the date the above said proceedings were initiated, at the addresse shown on said assessment roll or known to the Clerk, and to any per who has filed his name and address and the designation of the lands in which he has an interest, either legal or equitable, with the Clerk, such notice to be given not less than twenty (20) days before the first public hearing on the proposed annexation. 7. In the event any land within the territory proposed to be annexed is owned by a county, the City Clerk is directed to cause written notice of such proposed annexation to be mailed to the Board of Supervisors of the county, such notice to be given not less than twenty (20) days before the first public hearing on the proposed annexation. 8. In the event there is, upon the land proposed to be annexed, a structural improvement owned, being acquired or leased by a county fire protection district, the said Clerk is directed to cause written notice of such proposed annexation to be mailed to the governing body of such district, such notice to be sent not les, than ten (10) days before the first public hearing upon such proposed annexation. 9. The City Clerk is directed to cause written notice to be given to such other persons as may be legally entitled thereto, in the manner required by law.
