HomeMy WebLinkAboutMinutes - January 5, 1925 - CCCITY HALL, AZUSA, CALIFORNIA. January 5th, 1925. The Board. of Trustees of the City of Azusa met in regular session at the above time and place. Present at roll call: Trustees: i:Ioon, Meier, Case, Chenoweth, Peirce, City Clerk and City Attorney. Absent: Trustees: None. The minutes of the meeting held December 15th, 1924 were read and approved as read. A letter was read from R. B. Demmitt and on mo- tion duly carried the same was referred to the Public Works Committee to report at next meeting. A letter was read from Mr. Frank Morris relative to the matter of pruning street trees and on motion the same was ordered filed. An application was received from the Southern Counties Gas Company for permission to excavate in Center Street between Azusa and Alameda Aves. and on motion duly carried the same was referred to the Public Works Committee with power to act. Carried by the following vote: Ayes: Trustees: Moon, Meier, Case, Chenoweth, Peirce. Noes: None. Absent: None. The City Clerk was authorized to draw a warrant in favor of E. E. Dilley for $17.50 tax refund, such tax being a double payment on the Service Station on Lots 5 and 6. Block 34, such tax having also.been paid by the Union Oil Company. Carried by the following vote: Ayes: Trustees: Moon, Meier, Case, Chenoweth, Peirce. Noes: None. Absent: None. 'A demand was made by the Union Oil Company for a refund of 06.50 being the difference between the new and old rate on personal property tax and on motion the City Clerk was instructed to draw a warrant for this amount. The following Resolution was presented: A RESOLUTION OF THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF THE CITY OF AZUSA, CREATING THE OFFICE OF FULL TIME FIRE- MAN AND APPOINTING C. W. GARRISON TO THAT OFFICE AND FIXING HIS SALARY OR COMPENSATION. The Resolution was read. On motion the same was adopted as read. Carried by the following vote: Ayes: Trustees: Moon, Meier, Case, Chenoweth, Peirce. Noes: None. Absent: None. 'The following Resolution was presented: A RESOLUTION OF THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF THE CITY OF AZUSA, CALIFORNIA, APPROVING AND ADOPTING THE PLANS AND SPECIFICATIONS FOR THE IMPROVEMENT OF NINTH STREET IN THE CITY OF AZUSA. The Resolution was read. On motion the same was adopted as read. Carried by the following vote: Ayes: Trustees: Moon, Meier, Case, Chenoweth, Peirce. Noes: None. Absent: None. The following Ordinance was presented: RESOLUTION NO. 808 ADOPTED. RESOLUTION NO. 809 ADOPTED. 436 VMINUTES OF THE 11FETING HELD JANUARY 5th, 1925 7:30 P. M. 437 AN ORDINANCE OF THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF THE CITY OF AZUSA CALIFORNIA, PROHIBITING THE REPOSIT OR DISCHARGING INTO ANY CESS POOL, PUBLIC SEWER, DRAIN OR CATCH BASIN OF ANY WATER, SEWAGE OR LIQUID WASTE OF ANY Y.IND CON- TAINING OIL, GREASE OR OTHER LIY.E INGREDIENTS UNLESS SAME SHALL BE TRAPPED AND PROVIDING A PENALTY FOR THE VIOLATION OF SAME. The Ordinance was read. It was moved that the Ordinance be declared read for the second time and taken up for its third reading and final passage. The Ordinance was read. Mr. Smith of Burns -McDowell -Smith Engineering Company was present and tendered a proposal and bid on the appraisal and setting up of an accounting system in the Light and Water Depart- ments and on motion duly carried the same was referred to the Committee of the Whole for further action. The Ordinance prepared by the City Attorney regulating traffic was referred to the City Engineer for report. It was moved that the following bills be allow- ed and warrants ordered drawn upon the Treasury for the same. Carried by the following vote: Ayes: Trustees: Moon, Meier, Case, Chenoweth, Peirce.
