Present at roll call: Trustees: Moon, Meier, Case, Chenoweth, Peirce. City Attorney, City Clerk. Absent: Trustees,: None. The minutes of the meetings hely Jan. 5th, and lUth, 1925 were read and approved as read. A letter was read from the Railroad Commission 'relative to the matter of bringing the light system into compliance with their rules and on motion duly carried the same was referred to the Consulting Engineer with power to act. Carried by the rollowing vote: Ayes: Trustees: Moon, Meier, Case, Chenoweth, Peirce. Noes: None. Absent: None. A bid was received from the Union Rock Company for supplying the City with rock for the coming year and on motion their offer was accepted. Carried by the following vote: Ayes: Trustees: Moon, Meier, Case'Chenoweth, Peirce. Noes: None. Absent: None. The application of Ted R. Soto and Jose Briones for pool and billiard license was laid on the table. 7:30 P. M. 445 LETTER FROM RAILROAD COMMISSION REFERRED TO CONSULTING ENGINEER WITH POWER TO ACT. UNION ROCK COMPANY'S BID FOR SUPPLYING THE CITY WITH ROCK'FOR THE COMING YEAR WAS ACCEPTED. APPLICATION FOR POOL AND BILLIARD LICENSE LAID ON TABLE. A. letter was read from the League of California LETTER FROM LEAGIE OF Municipalities and on motion duly carried the CALIF. MUNICIPALITIES same was referred to the City Attorney with REFERRED TO CITY ATTORNEY power to act. WITH POWER TO ACT. On motion duly carried the City Assessor was authorized to oamel the delinquent tag on Lots 10-11-12 in Block 52, the owner of the same having riled an affidavit to the effect that he was entitled to Soldier's exemption. Carried by the following vote: Ayes: Trustees: Moon, Meier, Case, Chenoweth. Peirce. Noes: None. Absent: None. The following. Ordinance was presented: AN ORDINANCE OF THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF THE CITY OF AZUSA REGULATING THE MOVEMENT AND CARRY- ING OF HEAVY LOADS OVER OR UPON CERTAIN STREETS OR CERTAIN OTHER PUBLIC HIGHWAYS OF THE CITY OF AZUSA. The Ordinance was read. It was moved that the Ordinance be declared read for the first time and taken up for its second reading. The Ordinance was read. It was moved that the Ordinance be declared read for the second time and taken up for its third reading and final passage. The Ordina me was read. It was moved that the same be adopted as read. Carried by the following vote: Ayes: Trustees: 'Moon. Meier, Case, Chem weth, Peirce. Noes: None. Absent: None. The following Resolution was presented: A RESOLUTION OF THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF THE CITY OF AZUSA, DECLARING ITS INTENTION TO IMPROVE PORTIONS OF NINTH STREET, IN THE CITY OF AZUSA AND DETERMINING THAT BONDS SHALL BE ISSUED TO REPRESENT THE COST THEREOF. The Resolution was read. On motion the same was adopted as read. Carried by the following vote: Ayes: Trustees: Moon, Meier, Case, Chemweth, Peirce. Noes: None. Absent: None. CITY ASSESSOR AUTHORIZED TO CANCEL DELINQUENT TAX ON LOTS 10=11-12' IN BLOCK 52. ORDINANCE NO. 238 ADOPTED. RESOLUTION OF INTENTION NO. 812 ADOPTED. 446 MINUTES'OF MEETING HELD January 19th, 1925 On motion duly carried the Street Superin- tendent was authorized to build an eight foot cement walk between the sidewalk and curb in front of the Oit'y Hall. Carried by the following vote: Ayes: Trustees Moon, Meier, Case, Chenoweth, Peirce. Noes: None. Absent: None. Applications were received from John E. Hibsch, Peter J. Quinn, E. A. Davis, D. B. White and W. C. Braley to have the pepper trees in front of their respective places topped and on motion 'duly carried the Park Superintendent was author- ized to proceed with the work. On motion duly carried Mr. Clyde Garrison was authorized to secure a chauffeur's license and bill the City for the same. Carried by the following vote, to -wit: Ayes: Trustees: Moon, Meier, Case, Chenoweth, Peirce. Noes: None. Absent: None. On motion duly carried the City Clerk was in- structed to have all the insuranoe policys on the City Hall and Library expiring in February renewed. Carried by the following vote, to -wit: Ayes: Trustees: Moon, Meier, Case, Chenoweth, Peirce. Noes: None. Absent: None. The following Resolution was presented: RESOLVED: 7:30 P. M. 447 STREET SUPERINTENDENT AUTHORIZED TO BUILD AN EIGHT FOOT CEMENT WALK BETWEEN THE SIDEWALK AND CURB IN FRONT OF THE CITY HALL. APPLICATIONS OF J. -E. . HIBSCH, PETER J. QUINN, E. A. DAVIS, D. B. WHITE & W. C. BRALEY GRANTED & PARK SUPT. AUTHORIZED TO PROCEED WITH WORK. MR. CLYDE GARRISON AUTHOR- IZED TO SECURE A CHAUFFEUR'S LICENSE AND BILL THE CITY FOR THE SAME. CITY CLERK INSTRUCTED TO HAVE ALL INSURANCE POLICYS ON CITY HALL AND LIBRARY EXPIRING IN FEBRUARY RE- NEWED. RESOLUTION APPOINTING COMMITTEE ON SEWER MATTER. It was moved that the matter of purchasing fire MATTER OF PURCHASING FIRE hose be referred to the Committee of the Whole HOSE REFERRED TO COMMITTEE to investigate and report at next meeting. OF THE WHOLE FOR REPORT. It was moved that Mr. Goodwin, City Attorney and Mr. Barker, Consulting Engineer be author- ized to represent the City before the Railroad Commission in the matter of securing a spur track across the Foot -Hill Blvd. to the Nu -Why factory. Carried by the following vote. Ayes. Trustees: Moon, Meier, Case, Chenowetb, Peirce. Noes: None. Absent: None. The following Resolution was presented: RESOLVED: That a contract be entered into with ' James E. Barker Consulting Engineer to be pre- pared by the City Attorney and to include in it all of the things agreed to be done in the pro- poaal of Burns -McDonnell -Smith Engineering Com- pany and in addition thereto the Engineer to furnish data as a basis of rate fixing and to contemplate the effect on the City- Water System of the proposed San Gabriel dam, at an agreed price of 0900;00. Carried by the following vote: Ayes: Trustees: Moon, Meier, Case, Chenoweth, Peirce. Noes: None. Absent: None. Mr. Peirce, Water and Light Superintendent was CITY ATTORNEY & CONSULTING ENGINEER AUTHORIZED TO RE- PRESENT THE CITY BEFORE THE RAILROAD COMMISSION. CITY ATTORNEY TO PREPARE CONTRACT TO BE ENTERED INTO WITH JAMES E. BARKER, CONSULTING ENGINEER. That a committee consisting of Morgan J. Peirce, August L. Meier and L. Case be appointed with power to act to enter into a contract with an engineering firm to effect a suitable sewer system for the City of Azusa; the fee of said firm of engineers to less than 6% and. not over 8% contingent be not on the successful passage of a bond issue or assess- ment district act for sewer purposes;.and said committee to act in conjunction with the same committee of the Chamber of Commerce.
