RESOLUTION NO. X251
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF AZUSA'LOS ANGELES COUNTY, CALIFORNIA,
PROTESTING CHANGE OF ZONE TO PEM1IT THE
OPERATION OF A DIMIP AT OR NEAR THE INTER:.
SECTION OF FISH CANYON ROAD AND HUNTINGTON
DRIVE.
WHEREAS, it has been brought to the attention of the City
Council of the City of Azusa that there is pending before the
County Planning Commission of Los Angeles County, a petition by
one Mr. Hayden, requesting a change of zone authorizing a public
dump near the intersection of Fish Canyon Road and Huntington
Drive, a short distance north and east of the City of Azusa;
and
WHEREAS, it is. the opinion of the City Council of the
City of Azusa that a public dump at that location would be a
serious health hazard and menace to the purity of the underground
water supply and to the health and enjoyment of surrounding
territory.
The City Council of the City of Azusa therefore protests
earnestly the granting of such change of zone for the following
reasons, to -wit;
1. This location is in the gravel deposits of the San
Gabriel River bed and all water passing through this site will
ultimately drain into the underground storage reservoirs in the
areas which are extensively used as a source of domestic water
supply.
2. The dump level is now at 75 feet and that underground
water level frequently rises above this elevation, therefore
presenting great danger of serious polution to the underground
water from the decaying refuse in the dump.
3. For the further reason that a dump of that character
tends to draw flies, rats, squirrels and other animals which is
detrimental to health and enjoyment of surrounding premises.
