HomeMy WebLinkAboutMinutes - August 3, 1925 - CCCITY HALL, AZUSA, CALIFORNIA The Board of Trustees of the City of Azusa met in regular session at the above time and place. Present at roll call: Trustees: Moon, Meier, Chenoweth, Peirce, Durrell, City Clerk and City Attorney. Absent: None. The minutes of the meeting held July 20, 1925 were read and approved as read. On motion duly carried the re- quest of James Rogers for a two weeks vacation commencing Aug. 109 1925 was granted. It was moved that the matter of liability insurance on the Slauson Memorial Plunge be re- ferred to the Plunge Committee with power to act. Carried by the following vote: Ayes:. Trustees: Moon, Meier, Chenoweth, Peirce, Durrell. Noes: None. Absent: None. A. letter from J. C:. Iduehe, Secre- tary of the Library Board was read and on motion the same was referred to the Auditing and Fin- ance Committee for a report. - August 3rd, 1925 The following Ordinance was pre- sented: AN ORDINANCE OF THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF THE CITY OF AZUSA, RE-ESTABLISHING, ESTABLISHING AND CONFIRMING THE GRADE OF A PORTION OF ANGELENO AVENUE. The Ordinance was read. It was moved that the Ordinance be declared read for the second time and taken up for its third reading and final passage. The Ordinance was read. It was moved that the same be adopt- ed as read. Carried by the following vote: Ayes: Trustees: Moon, Meier, Cheno- weth, Peirce, Durrell. Noes: None. Absent: None. The following Ordinance was pre- sented: AN ORDINANCE OF THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF THE CITY OF AZUSA AMENDING SECTION 30 of ORDINANCE NO. 191 OF SAID CITY, ENTITLED.: "AN ORDINANCE OF THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF THE CITY OF AZUSA, LICENSING AND REGULATING CERTAIN KINDS OF BUSINESS CARRIED ON IN SAID CITY, ETC.," ADOPTED MAY 27, 1918. The Ordinance was read. It was moved that the Ordinance be declared read for the second time and taken up for its third reading and final passage. 59 7.30 -P.- M. JAMES ROGERS GRANTED VACATION. MATTER OF LIABILITY IN- SURANCE ON SLAUSON MEMORIAL PLUNGE REFERRED TO PLUNGE COM11ITTEE WITH POWER. TO ACT. LETTER FROM J. C. MUEHE REFERRED TO THE AUDITING AND FINANCE COMMITTEE FOR A REPORT. ORDINANCE NO. 245 ADOPTED. ORDINANCE NO. 244 ADOPTED. 60 MINUTES OF FETING HELD AUGUST 3, 1925 A petition for sewer between Azusa and San Gabriel Avenues was read and referred to the City Engineer for checking. I The following Resolution was pre- sented: A RESOLUTION OF THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF THE CITY OF AZUSA, CALIFORNIA, PROVIDING FOR THE TRANSFER.OF $4000.00 FROM THE LIGHT .FUND TO THE GENERAL FUND. The Resolution was read. On motion the same was adopted as read. Carried by the following vote: Ayes: Trustees: Moon, Meier, Chenoweth, Peirce, Durrell. Noes: None. Absent: None. It was moved that the Street Superintendent be authorized to purchase ten tons of hay. Carried by the following vote: Ayes: Trustees: Moon, Meier, Chenoweth, Peirce, Durrell. Noes: None. Absent: None. W. F. Pierce, Superintendent of Light and Water reported to the Board of Trustees that he had been informed that he was per- sonally liable in the sum of y10,000.00 on account of the fact that the City of Azusa has no chlorination of its domestic water. The Light and Water Superintendent reported on the matter of water service to Mrs. W. F. Hanes and recommended that the service be not made and on motion duly carried the report was approved. RESOLUTION NO. 846 ADOPTED. STREET SUPERINTENDENT AUTHOR- IZED TO PURCHASE HAY. W. F. PIERCE, SUPERINTENDENT OF LIGHT & WATER REPORTS THAT HE IS PERSONALLY LIABLE IN THE SUM OF $10,000.00 ON ACCOUNT OF THE FACT THAT THE CITY OF AZUSA HAS NO CHLORINATION OF ITS DOm IIESTIC WATER. It was moved and carried that when the Board adjourn it ad- journ to meet as a committee of the Whole. A letter was read from Mary D. Rittenhouse relative to the growth of gourds and castor beans on the old City reservoir property and on motion duly carried the Street Superinten- dent was instructed to have the same cleaned up'. On motion duly carried the matter of removing cans in the business district more often than once a month was referred to the Public Works Committee with power to act. It was moved that the office of Assistant Revenue Collector be declared vacant as of Sept. 1st, 1925. Carried by the following vote: Ayes: Trustees: Moon, Meier, Chenoweth, Peirce- Durrell. Noes: None. Absent: None. It was moved that all matters pertaining to proposed changes in the Revenue Collector's office be= -referred to the Auditing and Finance Committee with power to act. Carried by the following vote: Ayes: Trustees: IToon, Meier, Chenoweth, Peirce, Durrell. Noes: None. Absent: None. It was moved that the following bills be allowed and warrants ordered drawn upon the Treasury for the same. Carried by the following vote: Ayes: Trustees: I:Ioon, Meier, Chenoweth, Peirce, Durrell.
