HomeMy WebLinkAboutMinutes - February 1, 1926 - CCCITY HALL, AZUSA, CALIFORNIA. The Board of Trustees of the City of Azusa met in regular session at the above time and place. Present at roll call: Trustees: Durrell, Moon, I3eier,Chenoweth, Peirce, City Attorney and City Clerk. The minutes of the regular meeting held January 18, 1926 were read and approved as read. the request of Mr. George Kish- baugh to extend his Fruit Stand to the middle of the Parkway was denied and the City Marshal instructed to notify Mr. Nickerson to move his Fruit Stand back to the property line. The request of Mr. Bernardo Mal- donado for permission to operate a pool -hall at #233 Soldano Ave. was denied. It was moved that the Board of Trustees advertise in the High School "La Palma" an advertise- ment to cost 010.00. Carried by the mellowing vote: Ayes: Trustees: Durrell, Moon, Meier, Chenoweth, Peirce. Noes: None. Absent: None. The request of the Woman's Club for permission to use the Council Chamber for a rummage sale from February 23rd to February 27th was granted. The request of Evangelist Hill ifor the use of the City Hall for a three-week series was denied. A communication was read from Mr. C. H. Howard and ordered placed on file. A letter was read from Icir. Robert Hefflin with regard to the office of Building Inspect- or and ordered placed on file. A letter from Thomas & Moore was read and ordered placed on file. The proposition of a new building ordinance was referred to the Ordinance and Judiciary Committee. FEBRUARY 1, 1926. 7:30 P.M. A letter from the Railroad Com- mission was read and ordered placed on file. The City Clerk was instructed to write to the Azusa Foothill Association advising that they make the request for a grade crossing on Virginia Avenue directly to the Railroad Commission. MR. FILE. 170 171 MINUTES OF THE MEETING HELD FEBRUARY 1, 1926. 7:30 P.M. A letter from City Attorney, LETTER FROM CITY ATTORNEY, H. P. H. P. Goodwin was approved and ordered placed on file. GOODWIN APPROVED AND ORDERED PLACED ON 2IL3. The Bond of Street Superinten- dent, J. E. Lee was approved. The City Clerk was authorized to draw a warrant for $6.25 to pay for the same. Carried by the following vote: Ayes: Trustees: Durrell, Moon, Meier, Chenoweth, Peirce. Noes: None. Absent: NONE. It was moved and carried that the matter of getting water to the South west part of the City be referred to the Auditing and Finance Committee. The following Resolution was presented: A RESOLUTION OF THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF THE CITY OF AZUSA, CALIFORNIA, CREATING A DEPRECIA- TION RESERVE FUND FOR THE LIGHT DEPARTMENT OF SAID CITY. The Resolution was read. On motion the same was adopted as read. Carried by the following vote: Ayes: Trustees: Durrell, Moon, Meier, Chenoweth, Peirce. Noes: .None. Absent: None. The following Resolution was presented: A RESOLUTION OF THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF THE CITY OF AZUSA, CALIFCRNIA, CREATING A DEPRECIA- TION RESERVE FUND FOR THE WATER DEPARTMENT OF SAID CITY. The Resolution was read. On motion the same was adopted as read. Carried by the following vote. Ayes: Trustees: Durrell, Moon, Meier, Chenoweth, Peirce. Noes: None. Absent: None. The Following Resolution was presented: A RESOLUTION OF THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF THE CITY OF AZUSA, DECLARING THE OFFICE OF DEPUTY CITY CLERK VACANT AND APPOINT- ING M. HYNES TO THAT OFFICE AND FIXING ER SALARY OR COM- PENSATION. The Reolution was read. On motion the same was adopted as read. Carried by the following vote: Ayes: Trustees: Durrell, Noon, Meier, Chenoweth, Peirce. Noes: None. Absent: None. MATTER OF ENLARGING WATER AND LIGHT OFFICE REFERRED TO PRESIDENT OF BOARD WITH POWER TO ACT. 172 173 IdINUTES OF THE MEETING HELD FEBRUARY 1, 1926. 7:30 P.M. It was moved that the Super- intendent of the Light & Water Department be instructed to purchase a galoline tank and pump'for $100.00, to be in- stalled at the Fire Hall. Carried by the following vote: Ayes: Trustees: Durrell, Moon, Meier, Chenoweth, Peirce. Noes None. Absent None. It was moved that the Fire Chief, Mr. Garrison, be instructed to purdhase a 50 gallon barrel of medium Quaker State Oil. Griffith a member of the Library Board in the place of Mr. W. 0. Streshly, who resigned It was moved that the following bills be allowed and warrants ordered drawn upon the Treasury for the same.
