HomeMy WebLinkAboutMinutes - December 20, 1926 - CCCITY HALL, AZUSA, CALIFORNIA. The Board of Trustees of the City of Azusa met in regular session at the above time and place. MONDAY, DECEMBER 20, 1926 7:309. Present at roll call: Trustees: Durrell, Beck, Meier, Chenoweth, Howard, City Attorney, City Clerk. The minutes of the last regular meeting of December 6, 1926 were read and approved as read. The request of John D. Lund for permission to remove a tree in front of the parkway at ir312 W. Foothill Boulevard was referred to the Board of Public Works with power to act. The report of Mr. E. de Vicq,State Housing Officer and Dr. J. L. Pom- roy, County Health Officer to Dr. T. J. Stewart, District Health Officer regarding the status of the City Hall was then read by the City Clerk. A resolution signed by seventeen citizens of Azusa on the same subject was also read by the City Clerk. It was moved by Trustee Durrell seconded by Trustee bleier that in view of the facts stated in Mr. E.'de Vicq's report, the re- quest of the Azusa Irrigating Company for the use of the City Hall for their annual meeting be denied. Carried by the following vote of the Board: Ayes: Trustees: Durrell, Beck, Meier, Chenoweth, Howard. Noes: None. Absent: None. The City Engineer, under oath, stated that the improvement des- cribed in the Resolution of In- tention No. 930 was proper and necessary and that the property owned by the late T. M. Gillen - waters would share in the benefits and should be included in the assessment. It was moved by 'Trustee Chenoweth seconded by Trustee Beck and an- animously carried that a resolution entitled A RESOLUTION OF THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF THE CITY OF AZUSA OVERRULING THE PROTESTS AGAINST THE IMPROVEMENT OF SUNSET.AVENUE AND THE ALLEYS IN BLOCKS TWENTY-EIGHT (28), TWENTY-2TINE (29), THIRTY-SIX(36) AND THIRTY-SEVEN (37), MAP OF AZUSA AS DESCRIBED IN RESOLUTION OF INTENTION NO. 930. be read. This resolution was then read. Moved by Trustee Beck, Seconded by Trustee Meier that this resolution be adopted as read and be numbered Resolution No. 935. He advised against the acceptance of the offer of property owners to dedicate Twelfth Street to the City. The letter was laid over to the next meeting in order that a different arrangement might be made with the property owners re- garding the cost of curbs. The City Clerk was instructed to send letters similar to the ones sent by the"Committee of Nine" to Messrs. Stanley and Miller and Messrs. James Neel and A. L. Sailor regarding the contamination of the water of the San Gabriel river. It was moved by Trustee Durrell seconded by Trustee Beck and carried that Trustee Meier be appointed to represent the City at the meeting of the Agricultural Water Company on January 8, 1926. The President of the Board and City Clerk were authorized to sign a proxy for Trustee Meier to act for the City,in this capacity. It was moved by Trustee Durrell, seconded by Trustee Beck that a check for $188.22 be drawn in favor of Iidr. R. S. Wood, a refund on the amount advanced by him on his Water Contract. It was moved by Trustee Durrell seconded by Trustee Beck and unan- imously carried than an ordinance RESOLUTION NO. 939 ADOPTED. COMMUNICATION FROM MR. NICHOLS, BITY ENGINEER READ AND LAID OVER UNTIL NEXT MEETING. CITY CLERK INSTRUCTED TO WRITE LETTER TO THOSE CONTEMPLATING THE USE OF CYANIDE IN THE EXTRACTION OF ORE IN THE SAN GABRIEL CANYON. MR. K. IdEIER, TRUSTEE APPOINTED TO REPRESENT THE CITY AT MEETING OF AGRICULTURAL WATER CO. MOVED AND CARRIED THAT A CHECK BE DRAWN IN FAVOR OF R. S.
