MONDAY, JANUARY 17, 1927. 7 309 The Board of 'Trustees of the City of Azusa met in regular session at the above time and place. Present at roll call: Trustees: Durrell, Beck, Meier, Chenoweth, Howard, City Attorney and City Clerk. The minutes of the last regular meeting of January 3, 1927 were read and approved as read. A letter from Messrs. Miller Vosburg Company was read and ordered placed on file. It was moved by Trustee Durrell, seconded by Trustee 1,deier that the City Clerk be instructed to sign.a proxy for the Secretary of the 4utomobile Club of Southern California to act for the City of Azusa at the meeting of said Club on February 28, 1927. It was moved by Trustee Durrell, seconded by Trustee Beck that this Board postpone the further consideration of the bids for the street inprovement work in the Paramount Heights Tract un- til 8 o'clock on February 7, 1927. Carried by the following vote of the Board: Ayes: Trustees: Durrell, Beck, Meier, Chenoweth, Howard. Noes: None. Absent: None. It was moved by Trustee Durrell, seconded by Trustee Meier that the City Clerk inform the County Health Department that the Board of Trustees of this City is will- ing to sign a contract to continue the same arrangement with the Health Department as existed last year at the rate of 450.00 per month. This agreement to be in force until December 7, 1927. Carried by the following vote of the Board: Ayes: Trustees: Durrell, Beck, Meier, Chenoweth, Howard. Noes: i None. Absent: None. It was moved by Trustee Durrell, seconded by Trustee Beck that a refund of taxes of 416.77 be al- lowed 0. M. Mattin and a tax re- fund of X17.20 to D. V. Peirce allowed and checks drawn and sign- ed by the President of the Board and City Clerk for the above named figures as the exemption affidavits had been filed with the Assessor and not entered in the tax book. Carried by the following vote of the Board: Ayes: Trustees: Durrell, Beck, Meier, Chenoweth, Howard. Noes: None. Absent: Ngne. LETTER FROM MILLER VOSBURG CO. READ AND ORDERED PLACED ON FILE. CITY CLERK INSTRUCTED TO SIGN PROXY FOR THE SECRETARY OF AUTOMOBILE CLUB TO REPRESENT CITY AT MEETING. BOARD POSTPONED FURTHER CONSIDERATION OF BIDS ON STREET '1JORX IN TIB; PARAMOUNT HEIGhTS TRACT. MARTIN AND D. V. PEIRCE GRANTED TAX REFUND ON MILITARY EXE1•.4PT I ON . 390 MINUTES OF MEETING HELD JANUARY 17, 1927. A letter from Mr. W. F. Hanes was read asking for a refund of $1.03 on her taxes as the barn on this piece of property had been damaged by fire. It was moved by Trustee Beck, seconded by Trustee Chenoweth that this re- quest could not be granted. Carried by the following vote of the Board: Ayes: Trustees: Durrell, Beck, Meier, Chenoweth, Howard. Noes. None. Absent; None. Three architects were present, two of whom displayed their plans for a new City Hall and answered various questions put to the by members of the Board and others. Mr. Schmit appeared before the Board and asked for alicense to operate a roller skating rink in Azusa. The matter was referred to the Board of Public Works to be reported on at the adjourned meeting'of the Board. REQUEST MADE BY HANES FOR A TAX $1.03 REFUSED. 7:30 P.,391 MRS V. F. REFUND OF ARCHITECTS PRESENTED PLANS OF NEW CITY HALL. MR. SCHMIT REQUESTED PERMISSION TO OPERATE A ROLLER SKATING RINK IN TITS CITY. REFERRED TO BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS. Moved by Trustee Chenoweth, seconded by Trustee Durrell and unanimously carried that the following entitled Ordinance be placed on its first reading: "AN ORDINANCE OF THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF THE CITY OF AZUSA ORDERING, CALLING, PROVIDING FOR AND GIVING NOTICE OF A SPECIAL MUNICIAPL ELECTION TO BE HELD IN SAID CITY ON TUESDAY THE 15TH DAY OF MARCH, 1927, FOR THE PURPOSE OF SUBMITTING TO THE QUALIFIED VOTERS OF SAID CITY THE PROPOSITION OF INCURRING A BONDED INDEBTEDNESS BY SAID CITY FOR THE FOLLOWING MUNICIPAL IMPROVEMENT, TO -WIT: THE ACQUISI- TION AND CONSTRUCTION OF A CITY HALL, INCLUD- ING TIE ACQUISITION OF NECESSARY LANDS AND THE ACQUISITION OR CONSTRUCTION OF THE NECES- SARY BUILDING,' STRUCTURES, EQUIPMENT AND FURNITURE THEREFOR; PROVIDING FOR THE ISSUE OF BONDS FOR SAID PURPOSE AND DETERMINIIIG AND FIXING THE MAXIMUIvi RATE OF INTEREST OF SAID BONDS; PROVIDING FOR THE LEVY OF A TAX FOR THE PAYMENT OF SAID BONDS; AND PRO- VIDING FOR AND DESIGNATING AN ELECTION PRE- CINCT, DESIGNATING THE POLLING PLACE A14D APPOINTING ELECTION OFFICERS FOR SAID ELEC- TION." Said Ordinance was then read. It was moved by Trustee Chenoweth, seconded by Trustee Durrell That the following bills be allowed and warrants ordered drawn upon the treasury for the same.
