CITY, HALL, AZUSA, CALIFORNIA. MARCH 21, 1927. 7:30 P.M.
The Board of Trustees of the City
of Azusa met in regular session
at the above time and place.
Present at roll call. Trustees:
Howard, Beck,Meier, Murrell, City
Attorney and City Clerk. Trustee:
Chenoweth entered and took his seat
during the reading of the minutes.
The minutes of the last regular
meeting of March 7th and of the ad-
journed meetings of March 8th, 11th,
16th and 18th were read and approved
as read.
Moved by Trustee Chenoweth seconded
by Trustee Howard and carried that
bids for the improvement of the
alleys in Blocks 28, 29, 36 and 37
in the City of Azusa be now opened,
examined and publicly declared.

Absent: None.
The City Clerk reported that all of the election returns
had been received in his office for the special municipal
election held in the City of Azusa on the 15th day of March, 1927.
The City Attorney stated that the Board of Trustees
should now proceed with the canvassing of the returns of said
special municipal election held on the said 15th day of March,
1927.

The President of the Board thereupon instructed the City
Clerk to distribute the returns of said election to the
members of the Board of Trustees to examine and to note
whether or not the envelopes are properly signed and sealed
before opening same and to carefully examine same and to
check the tallies for the proposition as shown on the tally
sheets, and also to examine the tally sheets carefully and
correct any error in the computation that may be found and,
when the examination of the returns is completed, to call
off the same to the Board of Trustees, calling the Board's
attention particularly to any correction.
The Board of Trustees thereupon proceeded to canvass
the returns.
The canvassing having been completed and each member
of the Board of Trustees having separately reported that
he had computed the returns of the said special municipal
election held on the said 15th day of March, 1927//and-that
the vote cast on the following proposition which was submitted
to the qualified voters of the City of Azusa at said special
municipal election was as follows, to -wit:
SHALL THE CITY OF AZUSA INCUR A BONDED
DEBT IN THE SUM OF SEVENTY-FIVE. THOUSAND
DOLLARS (675,000.00) FOR THE PURPOSE OF
ACQUIRING AND CONSTRUCTING CERTAIN MUNI-
CIPAL IMPROVEMENTS, TO -WIT': THE ACQUISI-
TION AND CONSTRUCTION OF A CITY HALL, IN-
CLUDING THE ACQUISITION OF THE NECESSARY
LANDS AND THE ACQUISITION OR CONSTRUCTION
OF THE NECESSARY BUILDING, STRUCTURES, EQUIP-
IENT AND FURNITURE THEREFOR; PROVIDED THAT
NO GREATER PORTION THEREOF THAN TWENTY-FIVE
THOUSAND DOLLARS ($25,000.00) SHALL BE EX-
PENDED FOR THE ACQUISITION OF THE NECESSARY
LANDS.

position six hundred eighty-four (684);
Total number of votes cast in favor
of said proposition four hundred
ninety-nine (499);
Total number of votes cast against
said proposition one hundred eighty-
five (185)
WHEREUPON, Trustee Chenoweth presented the
following resolution and moved that it be adopted and be
numbered 966:
A RESOLUTION OF THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF THE CITY OF
AZUSA DETERMINING AND DECLARING THE VOTE CAST AT THE SPECIAL
MUNICIPAL ELECTION HELD ON THE 15TH DAY OF MARCH, 19279 IN
THE CITY OF AZUSA UPON THE FOLLOWING PROPOSITION: "SHALL
THE CITY OF AZUSA INCUR A BONDED DEBT IN THE SUM OF SEVENTY-
FIVE THOUSAND DOLLARS ($75,000.00) FOR THE PURPOSE OF AC-
QUIRING AND CONSTRUCTING CERTAIN MUNICIPAL IMPROVEMENTS, TO -
WIT: THE ACQUISITION AND CONSTRUCTION OF A CITY HALL, IN-
CLUDING THE ACQUISITION OF THE NECESSARY LANDS AND THE AC-
QUISITION OR CONSTRUCTION OF THE NECESSARY BUILDING, STRUCTURES,
EQUIPMENT AND FURNITURE THEREFOR; PROVIDED THAT NO GREATER
PORTION THEREOF THAN TWENTY-FIVE THOUSAND DOLLARS (425,000.00)
SHALL BE EXPENDED FOR THE ACQUISITION OF THE NECESSARY LANDS".
The Board of Trustees of the City of Azusa do resolve
as follows:
WHEREAS, the Board of Trustees of the Qity of Azusa did
by Ordinance No. 264, duly adopted on the 7th day of February,
1927, and duly approved by the President of said Board on the
8th day of February, 1927, call and order to be held in the
said city a special municipal election on Tuesday,. the 15th day
of March, 1927, for the purpose of submitting to the qualified
voters of said city the following proposition:

CIPAL IMPROVEMENTS, TO -WIT: THE ACQUISI-
TION AND CONSTRUCTION OF A CITY HALL, IN-
CLUDING THE ACQUISITION OF THE NECESSARY
LANDS AND THE ACQUISITION OR CONSTRUCTION
OF THE NECESSARY BUILDING, STRUCTURES, EQUIP-
MENT AND FURNITURE THEREFOR; PROVIDED TIIAT
NO GREATER PORTION THEREOF TITAN TWENTY-FIVE
THOUSAND DOLLARS (`25,000.00) SIiALL BE EX-
PENDED FOR THE ACQUISTION OF THE NECESSARY
LANDS;
WHEREAS, said Ordinance No. 264 calling and order-
ing said special municipal election was certified and published in
the form, time and manner required by law and by said ordinance,
as appears from the certificate of H. R. Smith, City Clerk of said
city, and from the affidavit of C. 0. Broxon, both on file in the
office of the City Clerk of said City;
WHEREAS, it appears that said special municipal
election was duly held in accordance with the provisions of the
law of the State of California and of said ordinance and that the
polls of said election were kept open during the time required by
law and by said ordinance, to -wit: from 6:00 o'clock A. 1.1. until
7:00 o'clock P. M. of said 15th day of March, 1927, and that said
special municipal election was held and the vote thereat received
and canvassed and the returns thereof ascertained, determined and
declared in the time, form and manner required by the laws of the
State of California and by said ordinance; and
WHEREAS, on the day, to -wit; Monday, the 21st
day of March, 1927, the Board of Trustees of said city met at their
usual place of meeting and proceeded to and did canvass the returns
' of said special municipal election, as required by law and by said
ordinance, and thereupon, the result of said election having been
found to be as hereinafter stated,
IT IS IIE:};EBY RESOLVED, DETERIuIINED AND DECLARED:
(1) That the proposition voted upon at said
special municipal election was stated upon the ballot submitted
to the qualified voters of said city thereat, as follows:
SHALL THE CITY OF AZUSA INCUR A BONDED
DEBT IN THE SUM OF SEVENTY-FIVE THOUSAND
DOLLARS (fp75,000.00) FOR THE PURPOSE OF'
ACQUIRING AND CONSTRUCTING CERTAIN MUNI-
CIPAL IMPROVEMENTS,TO-WIT: THE ACQUISI-
TION AND CONSTRUCTION OF A CITY HALL, IN-
CLUDING THE ACQUISITION OF THE NECESSARY
LANDS AND THE ACQUISITION OR CONSTRUCTION
OF THE NECESSARY BUILDING, STRUCTURES,
EQUIPMENT AND FURNITURE TH]3REFOR; PROVIDED
THAT NO GREATER PORTION THEREOF THAN TWENTY-
FIVE THOUSAND DOLLARS ($,225,000.00) SHALh BE EX-
PENDED FOR THE ACQUISITION OF THE NECESSARY
LANDS.
(2) That by said Ordinance No. 264, the said
City of Azusa was consolidated into and was constituted one (1)
election precinct, the external boundaries of which were co-
terminous with the boundary lines of said

city, and that said special election precinct had one (1)
polling place to -wit: the Council Ohamber of the City
Hall of the said city at the northeast corner of Foothill
Boulevard and Alameda Avenue in said city.
(3) That the total number of votes cast at
said special municipal election was six hundred eighty-
four (684);
That the total number of votes cast at said
special municipal election in favor of said proposition
was four hundred ninety-nine (499); and
That the total number of votes cast thereat
against said proposition was one hundred eighty-five (185).
WHEREFORE, IT IS FURTHER RESOLVED, DETERMINED AND
DECLARED that more than two-thirds (2/3) of all the voters
voting at said special municipal election in said city voted
in favor of said proposition hereinbefore set forth, and
that they did thereby authorize the incurring of a bonded
indebtedness of and by the said City of Azusa to the amount
of and for the object and purpose stated in said proposition,
and that therefore bonds of said city will be issued to defray
the cost of the improvement specified in said proposition
and to the amount stated therein.
The resolution was then read.
The motion to adopt said resolution was then duly
seconded by Trustee Howard; the vote was then taken on the
adoption of said resolution and resulted as follows:
AYES: Trustees: Howard, Beck, Meier, Chenoweth
and Durrell;
NOES: None.
ABSENT: None.
WHEREUPON, the President of the Board of Trustees
declared the said resolution unanimously adopted.
