Present at roll call. Trustees: Howard, Beck, Meier, Chenoweth, Durrell, City Attorney and City Clerk. The minutes of the last regular meeting held May 2, 1927. were read and approved as read. ' After Mr. C. A. Griffith had addressed the Board it was moved by Trustee Howard, seconded by Trustee Beck that the City lend its support to the San Gabriel Valley Protective Association and enter formal protest against any misappropriation of the water rights. A letter from Mr. C. C. Wilson asking to be appointed Inspector of the work on Paramount Heights Tract was ordered placed on file. A communication from C. A. Huffman, Secretary of the Chamber of Commerce regarding the paveing of Ninth Street was read and ordered placed on file. A communication from C. A. Huffman with regard to the planting of uniform trees was read and ordered placed on file. 17 7:30 P.M. Mr. Griffith addressed the Board on -the sub- ject of the San Gabriitl Valley Protective Association. Mr. Wilson's letter ordered placed on file. Communication from Yr. C. A. After considerable discussion it was unanimously decided not to enter into a contract with the Burroughs Company for the upkeep of the Burroughs Billing Machine, used in the Water & Light Department, for the present. Moved by Trustee Chenoweth, seconded by Trustee Meier that the President of the Board and the City Clerk be authoriz- ed to purchase a typewriter at a cost of $77.50, the old machine to be traded in. Carried by the following vote of the Board: Ayes: Trustees: Howard, Beck, bleier, Chenoweth, Durrell. Noes: None. The Boardof Trustees of the City of Azusa Gentlemen: The City Engineer wishes to report that after having carefully examined all bids and bonds referred to him for checking that the Los Angeles Electric works, Inc. by W. J. Hahn President, is the lowest bidder for the work to be done as described in Resolution of Intention No. 959. The assessment on this job under this bid will run not less than $1.66 per front foot. Matter of burning rubbish referred to Board of Public Works. Moved by Trustee Howard, seconded by Trustee Chenoc+eth and unanimously carried that a resolution entitled "A RESOLUTION OF THE 30ARD OF TRUSTEES OF THE CITY OF AZUSA DECLARING ITS INTENTION TO ORDER THE II0ROVE.TE.NT OF A PORTION OF SECOND STREET FROIJ THE CENTER LIVE OF AZUSA AVENUE TO THE CENTER LINE OF DALTON AVENUE IN THE ' CITY OF AZUSA, AND DETERMINING TFAT BONDS SHALL BE ISSUED TO REPRESENT THE COST THEREOF. be read. This resolution was then read. Moved by Trustee Howard, seconded by Trustee Meier that this resolution be adopted as read and be numbered Resolution No. 986. Moved by Trustee Chenoweth, seconded. by Trustee Meier and unanimously car- ried that an ordinance entitled: AN ORDINANCE OF TIS; BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF THE; CITY OF AZUSA PROVIDING FOR THE ISSUANCE OF BONDS OF THE CITY OF AZUSA IN THE SUM OF SEVENTY-FIVE THOUSAND DOLLARS ($75,000.00) FOR THE ACQUISITION AND CONSTRUCTION OF A CITY HALL, IF?- CLUDING THE ACCZUISITION OF NECESSARY ' LANDS AND THE ACQUISITION OR CONSTRUCTION OF THE NECESSARY BUIf.DING, STRUCTURES, EQUIPMENT AND FURNITURE THEIIEFOR. be placed on its second reading. Moved by Trustee Howard, seconded by Trustee Beck that this ordinance be pass- ed as read and be numbered Ordinance No. 267. The City Attorney presented two bids for the supplying of bonds for the Nev; City Hall loan. It was moved by `trustee Howard, seconded by Trustee Chenoweth that the bid of Mellow and Brovm (the lower bidder) of $158.75 be accepted. Carried by the following vote of the Board: Ayes: Trustees: Howard, Beck, Meier, Chenoweth, Durrell. Noes: None. ' Absent: None. The City Clerk presented a petition signed by 266 qualified voters and duly endorsed asking the Board to fix an election day for the recall of C. VJ. Beck. The Board by a unanimous vote decided to fix the day of election at the adjourned meeting May 20, 1927. After some discussion the matter of burning rubbish on the vacant lots in the city was reaferred to the Board of Public Works. 7:30 P. 1.1. 23 RESOLUTION NO. 986. ADOPTED. ORDINANCE NO. 267 ADOPTED. Moved by Trustee Beck, seconded by Trustee Chenoweth and carried that a Resolution declaring the office of Traffic Officer vacant be read. This resolution was then read. Moved by Trustee Deck that this resolution be adopted as read and given its appropriate number. The motion failing to get a second was dropped.
