Present at roll call: Trustees: Howard, Beck, Meier, Chenoweth Durrell. Absent: None. A request from Edward P. Barnes and Arthur J. Thoinure for permission to open a Billiard Hall at 1`714 Azusa Avenue was, on motion by Trustee Howard; seconded by Trustee Meier re- ferred to the Police Committee with power to act. Moved by Trustee Howard, seconded by Trustee Beck that a warrant be drawn for 535.00, made payable to S. B. Bell who is representing the Business Men's Committee, for music and promotion on July 4th.. Carried by the following vote of the Board: Ayes: Trustees: Howard, Beck, Meier, Chenoweth, Durrell.. Noes: None. Absent: None. 7:30 P:M. 5 Communication from the Corresponding Secretary of the Womans Ci_ub continued until next meeting. T. Oki's request laid on table. President and City Clerk authorized to drawn war- rant for R. !vI. Bates if and •;:hen money is paid into Treasury. Communication from R. B. Bidwell ordered placed on file. E. P. Barnes and A. J. The minutes of the last regular meeting of June 6, 1927 were read and approved as read. A letter from Mrs C. C. Carpenter, ' dorresponding Secretary of the Woman's Club was read and on motion by Trustee Howard, seconded by Trustee Beck was laid on the table until the next meeting of the Board, on July 5, 1927. The request of T. Oki for the pur- chase of iron sheeting belonging to the City, was laid on the table. Moved by Trustee Howard, seconded by Trustee Beck that the President of the Board and the City Clerk be authorized to draw and sign a war- rant for x;450.00 payable to Mr. R. M. Bates on his City Hall Contract if and when the purchase money is paid into the City Treasury. Carried by the following vote of the Board: Ayes: Trustees: Howard, Beck, Meier, Chenoweth, Durrell. Moved by Trustee Meier, seconded by Trustee Chenoweth and unanimously carried that no fireworks be sold in the City of Azusa before June 25, 1927 nor after July 5, 1927. Applications for employment as as- sistants at the City Plunge from MacDonald Bonner and Gus Beier, Jr. were read and referred to the Board of Public Works. It was recommended by The Board of Public llorks that the "49 Camp" be not permitted at the Rodeo. On motion by Trustee Beck, seconded by Trustee Meier that the recommendation of the Board of Public Works be sustained.. Carried by the following vote of the Board: Ayes: Trustees: Howard, Beck, Meier, Chenoweth, Durrell. Noes: None. Absent: None. Moved by Trustee Howard, seconded by Trustee Chenoweth and unanimously carried that a resol.ittion entitled A RESOLUTION OF THE: BOARD OF TPUSTEES OF THE CITY OF AZUSA APPROVING AND ADOPTING THE PLANS AND SPECIFICATIONS AND A MAP OF THE ASSESSIdENT DISTRICT FOR THE IMPROVEMENT OF ORANGE, SUNSET, AND ANGELENO AVENUES AND VISTA BONITA AND ELEVENTH STREETS. be read. Moved by Trustee Howard, seconded by Trustee Meier and unanimously carried that a resolution entitled: A RESOLUTION OF THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF THE CITY OF AZUSA DECLARING ITS IN- TENTION TO ORDER THE IMPROVEMiENT OF PORTIONS OF ORNA.GE, SUNSET AND ANGELENO AVENUES, VISTA BONIi'A AND ELEVENTH STREETS IN SAID CITY, AND DECLARIT,,G THF: IMPROVEItiENT TO BE OF MORE THAN LOCAh OR ORDINARY PUBLIC BENEFIT, AND THAT TILE COST OF SAID ITAPROVEAIENT SF.ALL BE ASSESSED UPON A. The matter of allowing Arcades to be built.in the City was referred to the Board as a committee of the whole. The City Attorney informally reported that the Bond Issue for the New City Hall had been approved. Moved by Trustee Chenovreth, seconded by Trustee Beck and unanimously carried. that the president of the Board be authorized to sign the "Declaration of Establishment" for the Paramount Heights people as amended with the exception, that the clause providing for a four foot easement over the rear of the lots for public utilities be retained. Moved by Trustee Chenoweth, seconded by Trustee Howard and unanimously carried that an ordinance entitled: "AN ORDINANCE OF THE B01. Moved by Trustee Howard, seconded by Trustee Chenoweth that the City Engineer be instructed to prepare plans and specifications for lights on Alameda Avenue and Dalton Avenue from Fifth City Engineer instructed Street to Santa Fe Avenue and on Santa to prepare plans and Fe Avenue from Alameda Avenue to Dalton specifications. Avenue, also sidewalks and curbs on Santa Fe Avenue and the paving of Santa Fe Avenue from curb to curb from Alameda Avenue to Dalton Avenue and the paving of Dalton Avenue from Santa Fe Avenue to Foothill Boulevard.
