The City Council of the City of'Azusa
met,in regular session at the above
time and place.
Present at roll call: Councilmen:
Howard, Martin, Meier, Chenov,eth,
Durrell, City Attorney and City Clerk.
The minutes of the last regular meet-
ing of February 6, 1928 were read
and approved as read.
' A petition signed by a number of
citizens was presented by the City
Clerk asking that Ordinance No. 37
of the City of Azusa be enforced.
Moved by Councilman Meier, seconded
by Councilman Martin that the City
Marshal be instructed to enforce all.
the ordinances of the City.
Carried by the following vote of the
Council:
Ayes: Councilmen: Howard, Martin,
Meier, Chenoweth, Durrell. Noes: None.
Absent: None.
The application of Oscar Halderman for
the position of Janitor in the new
City Hall was laid on the table.
The application of J. R. Pinkstaff for
the position of Janitor in the new
City Hall was laid on the table.
A letter from Dr. J. L. Pomeroy of the
Los Angeles County Health Department
concerning the furnishing of the clinic
' in the new City Hall was ordered filed.
Moved by Councilman Howard, seconded by
Councilman Meier and duly carried that
the City Attorney be instruct6d to reply
to the communication Brom Mr. Gaudy of
the Los Angeles County Health Department
regarding the purification of the water
supply of the City.
The request of J. H.'Morgan for the
position of Park Superintendent was,
on motion by Councilman Martin, seconded
by Councilman Chenoweth and duly car-
ried, laid on the table.
On the recommendation of the Mayor, the
following were appointed as the Planning
Commission of the City of Azusa:
C. A. Griffith Mrs. Gus Meier
C. E. Williams Mrs. Dr. Wheatley
C. H. Howard.
Moved by Councilman Meier, seconded by
' Councilman Chenoweth that the City Clerk
be instructed to advertise for bids for
the furnishing and erecting of either
three cells in the jail of the new City
Hall, or for the furnishing and erecting
of all cells.
Carried by the following vote of the
Council:
Ayes: Councilmen: Howard, Martin, Meier,
Chenoweth, Durrell. Noes: None.
Absent: None.

A License Agreement was presented
by the Marbelite Corporation of
Americao,for the furnishing of
Marbelite Type No. 2560-M Centrifu-
gally Cast Cement Concrete Light-
ing Standards together with ap-
pliancesa nd equipment in the mat-
ter of Acquisition and Improvement
District No. 1 of the City of Azusa.
Upon motion of Councilman Meier,
seconded by Councilman Chenoweth,
and carried, the said License Agree-
ment was accepted and approved and
the Mayor of this City and the City
Clerk were authorized to execute the
same in behalf of the City.
The City Clerk reported that this is
the hour, time and place for the hear-
ing of protests against the issuance
of bonds for the improvement of Alameda,
Dalton, Santa Fe Avenues and Sixth Street.
The City Clerk fufther reported that no
protests had been filed.
The Mayor then asked if any person wished
to be heard in the matter. No one objected.
Moved by Councilman Howard, seconded
by Councilman Meier and unanimously carried
that a resolution entitled:
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY C OUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF AZUSA BEING AN ORDI11R PROVIDING
FOR THE ISSUANCE OF STREET IMPROVET,1ENT
BONDS PRESCRIBING THE DENOMINATION OF
SUCH BONDS AND OF THE INTEREST COUPONS
ATTACHED THERETO.

PLANS FOR THE IMPROVEMENT OF AZUSA AVENUE
FROM THE SOUTH CURB LINE OF FIFTH STREET
TO THE NORTH LINE OF BROADWAY IN THE CITY
OF AZUSA.

THE CITY OF AZUSA DECLARING ITS INTEN-
TION TO ORDER THE IMPROVEMENT OF PORTIONS
OF AZUSA AVENUE, AND DECLARING THAT THE
IMPROVEMENT IS TO BE OF MORE THAN LOCAL
CR ORDINARY PUBLIC BEIEFIT, AND THAT THE
COST OF THE SAID IMPROVEMENT SHALL BE a
ASSESSED UPON A DISTRICT, AND DETERMIN-
ING THAT BONDS SHALL BE ISSUED TO REPRE-
SENT THE COST THEREOF.

RESOLUTION NO. 1068
ADOPTED.
In the Matter of Acquisition and Improvement
District No. 1 of the City of Azusa.
Paul E. Kressly, heretofore appointed and directed to prepare
and furnish specifications for certain proposed improvements of
Foothill Boulevard, in the matter of Acquisition and Improvement
District No. 1 of the City of Azusa, presented said specifications
to the City Council. After an examination of the same by the various
Members of the Council, Councilman Meier, introduced the following
resolution:
Resolution No. 1069, "In the matter of Acquisition and Improvement
District No. 1 of the City of Azusa - Resolution approving Specifications"
which Resolution was adopted by the following vote, to -wit:
Ayes: Councilmen Howard, Martin, Meier, Chenoweth, Durrell. Noes; None.
Absent: None.
' Councilman Chenoweth introduced the following resolution - Resolution
No. 1070 "In the matter of Acquisition and Improvement District No. 1
of the City of Azusa - Resolution of Intention", which was adopted by
the following vote, to -wit:
Ayes: Councilmen: Howard, Martin, Meier, Chenoweth, Darrell. Noes: None.
Absent: None.
Moved by Councilman Howard, seconded
by Councilman Chenoweth and unanimously
carried that the following entitled ORDINANCE READ FOR
ordinance be placed on its first reading. THE FIRST TIME.
AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF AZUSA DECLARING A BUILDING SET
BACK LINE UPON THE PROPERTY FRONTING ON
FIFTH STREET BETWEEN THE EASTERLY CITY
BOUNDARY LINE AND ITS WESTERLY TERMINATION.
Moved by Councilman Chenoweth, seconded
by Councilman Meier and carried that the
