HomeMy WebLinkAboutMinutes - March 12, 1928 - CCCITY HALL, AZUSA, CALIFORNIA, MARCH 12, 1928. 7:30 P.M. ?F The City Council met in adjourned jime and place. of the City of Azusa session at the above Present at roll call: Councilmen: Howard, Martin, Meier, Chenoweth, Durrell, City Attorney and City Clerk. IN THE MATTER OF ACQUISITION AND IMPROVEMENT DISTRICT NO. 1 OF THE CITY OF AZUSA. ' The hour of 7:30 o'clock, P. M. having arrive4,the following Resolution was read, and on motion of Councilman Meier, seconded by Councilman Martin, unanimously adopted, to -wit: It appearing that the Resolution of Intention heretofore on the 20th day of February, 1928, passed and adopted in the matter of Acquisition and Improvement District No. 1 of the City of Azusa was regularly and duly published in the Azusa Journal, a newspaper published and circulated in the City of Azusa and designated in said Resolution of Intention, by two (2) publications, to -wit: February 22nd and 29th, 1928, and that Notices of Public Improvement in said matter were thereafter regularly, on the 23rd day of February, 1928, posted by Paul E. Kressly, the person duly appointed Superin- tendnent of Work in said Acquisition and Improvement District, and affidavit of proof of such publication and posting having been duly filed with the Clerk of this City Council, and more than eighteen (18) days having expired since the date of adoption of said Resolu- tion of Intention, and more than fifteen (15) days having expired since the first publication of the Resolution of Intention, this City Council hereby declares that it has acquired power to proceed with the hearing in said matter, the date for the same being this day and hour, to -wit, March 12, 1928, at the hour of 7:30 o'clock, P.M. The Mayor then announced that this was the time, hour and place for hearing any and all objections in the matter of Acquisition and Improvement District No. 1 of the City of Azusa, and inquired of the Clerk whether any objections in writing go- ing to the entirety of the work described in said Resolution of Intention, and to the ordering of the same, had been filed. The Clerk stated that he had received such protests not later than the hour set for hearing objections. The Mayor then inquired if anyone present desired to make any objections going to the entirety of the work described in said Resolution of Intention, and to the ordering of the same, whereupon Messrs. Mr. Bidwell, Attorney for protestsnts and W. D. Gillespie addressed the City Council in support of the protests filed. The said protests and objections to the doing of the thing or things proposed to be done in their entirety were then referred to the City Council as the Committee of the whole and the Superintendent of Work for checking and report. It was then moved by Councilman Meier, seconded by Councilman Martin, and unanimously carried, that the hearing going to the entirety of the work and ordering of the same be continued ' until the hour of 7:30 o'clock P. M. of Tuesday, the 13th day of March, 1928. Moved by Councilman Meier, seconded by Councilman Martin that the purchase of the furniture for the New City Hall be referred to the Purchasing Committee, with power to act. Carried by the following vote of the Council: Ayes: Councilmen: Howard, Martin Meier, Chenoweth, Durrell. Noes: None. Absent: None. Moved by Councilman Howard, seconded by Councilman Chenoweth that the Council adjourn until Tuesday, evening March 13, 1928 at 7:30 P.M. 240 � MINUTES OF ADJOURNED ML'ETING HELD MARCH 12, 1928.
