Present at roll call: Councilmen: Howard, Martin, Meier, Chenoweth, Durrell, City Attorney and City Clerk. The minutes of the last regular meeting of March 5, 1928 and the adjourned meeting of March 12th and March 13, 1928 were read and approved as read. The request of E. C. Higbee to place a sign at -##739 Azusa Avenue was, on motion by Councilman Howard, seconded by Council- man Martin and duly carried, referred to the Board of Public Works with power to act. The City Clerk rep;)rted that he received five bids for the equipment of the new City Jail: LEE AND TALrMAN Jail cells and etc. - - - - - - - - - - -- 7:30 P.M. 249 Request of Mr. Higb7 referred to the Board of Public Works. Bids for City Jail. $1350.00 HOFFMANN ORNAMENTAL IRON WORKS Jail cells and etc. - - - - - - - - - - - $1634.22 Brombacher Iron Works Jail cells and etc. - - - - - - - - - - - 2635.00 USONA IRON CO., INC. Jail cells and etc. - - - - - a - - - - - 1811.00 FLORENCE IRON ART STUDIO Jail cells and etc. - - - - - - - - - -- 2300.00 Moved by Councilman Meier, seconded by Councilman Martin that the bids be referred to the Purchasing Committee with power to act. Carried by the following vote of the Council: Ayes: Councilmen: Howard, Martin, Meier, Chenoweth, Durrell. Noes: None. Absent: None. Moved by Councilman Martin, seconded by Councilman Ideier and carried that a special fund be constituted to be known as "Foothill. Boulevard Improvement Fund", and all moneys in the total sum of Fifty thousand (50,000.00) Dollars, which was heretofore erdered by resolution of the Board of Supervisors of Los Angeles County to be contributed from Good Roads Fund of said County to the City of Azusa towards the expenses of the work and improvement to be performed and made in the matter of Acquisttion and Improvement District No. 1 of the City of Azusa, shall be deposited in said "Foothill Boulevard Improvement Fund". Moved by Councilman Martin, seconded by Councilman Meier and unanimously carried that a resolution entitled: A RESOLUTION OF TIS: CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AZUSA OVERRULING PROTESTS FOR THE WORK TO BE DONE ON AZUSA AVENUE IN SAID CITY AND DESCRIBED IN RESOLUTION OF INTENTION NO. 1068 OF SAID COUNCIL. be read. This resolution was then real. Moved by Councilman Meier, seconded by Bids referred to the Purchasing Committee $50,000.00 to be placed in fund known as "Foothill Boulevard Improve- ment Fund." Moved by Councilman Meier, seconded by Councilman Martin and unanimously carried that a resolution entitled: A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF ThT CITY OF AZUSA ORDERING REVISED PLANS AND SPECIFICATIONS FOR THF, IMPROVEMENT OF AZUSA AVENUE IN THE CITY OF AZUSA. be read. This resolution was then read. Moved by Councilman Meier, seconded ' by Councilman Martin that this resolution be adopted as read and numbered Resolution No. 1077. Carried'by the following vote of the Council: Ayes: Councilmen: Howard, Martin, Meier, Chenoweth, Durrell. Noes: None. Absent: None. Moved by Councilman Howard and seconded by Coucilman Meier and duly carried that the selection of trees for the varices streets in the City of Azusa be left until after the meeting of the Plannin Commission. Moved by Councilman Howard, seconded by Councilman Martin that the matter of purchas- ing containers be left to the Purchasing Committee. Carried by the following vote of the Council: Ayes: Councilmen: Howard, Martin, Meier, Chenoweth, Durrell. Noes: None. Absent: None. Moved by Councilman Chenoweth, seconded by Councilman Howard that the following bills ' be allowed and warrants ordered drawn upon the Treasury for the same.
