MONDAY, APRIL 2, 1928. 7:30 P.M. 259 The City Council of the City of Azusa met in regular session at the above time and place. r Present at roll call: Councilmen: Martin, Meier, Chenoweth, Durrell, City Attorney and City Clerk. Absent: Councilman: Howard.. The minutes of the last regular meeting of March 19th and of the adjourned meeting of March 28, 1928 were read and approved as read. A communication from the Azusa herald re- garding a publication to be issued in Azusa was read and on motion by Councilman Meier, seconded by Councilman IQartin and duly carried was ordered placed on file. Moved by Councilman Meier, seconded by Councilman Martin that the City take a half page advertisement in the "La Palma" for 1928. Carried by the following vote of the Council: Ayes: Councilmen: Martin, Meier, Chenoweth, Durrell. Noes: None. Absent: Councilman: Howard. Moved by Councilman Meier, seconded by Councilman Martin that the matter of a special bond for City Treasurer, 'elm. J. Holden on account of the $50,000.00 paid into the Bank received by the City of Azusa from the Los Angeles County Road Depart- ment, be left to the Mayor with power to act. Carried by the following vote of the Council: Ayes: Councilmen: Martin, Meier, Chenoweth, Durrell. Noes: None. Absent: Councilman: Howard. A request from Cornets for permission to sell fireworks was, on motion by Councilman Meier, seconded by Councilman Martin and duly carried laid on the table. A letter from Vosburg Brothers, Inc. was read, advising of the cancellation of the insurance policy on the old City Hall. Building on which they are holding an unearned premium of $13.32 to the credit of the City. Moved by Councilman Meier, seconded by Councilman Martin and unanimously carried that a resolution entitled: A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AZUSA APPROVING AND ADOPTING THE PLANS FOR THE IMPROVEMENT OF AZUSA AND SAN GABRIEL AVENUES IN THE CITY OF AZUSA. be read. This resolution was then read. Moved by Councilman Martin, seconded by Councilman Meier that this resolution be adopted as read and numbered Resolution No. 1080. Carried by the following vote of the Council: Ayes: Councilmen: Martin, Meier, Chenoweth, Durrell. Noes: None. Absent: Councilman: Howard. Communication from Azusa Herald ordered placed on file. Moved and carried that the City ad- vertise in the "La Palma". ➢Matter of bond for City Treasurer re- ferred to the Mayor with power to act. Request for per- mission to sell fire works laid on table. Insurance policy on on old City Hall building cancelled. This resolution was then read. Moved by Councilman Meier, seconded by Councilman Martin that this resolution be adopted as read and numbered Resolution No. 1081. ORDER THE IMDROVE "' T,inIIT OF PORTIONS OF AZUSA AVENUE, AND DECLARING THAT THE IM- PROVEMENT IS TO BE OF MORE THAN LOCAL OR ORDINARY PUBLIC BENEFIT, AND THAT THE COST OF THE SAID Ii.inROVEI'ENT SHALL BE ASSESS- ED UPON A DISTRICT, AND DETERIATNING THAT BONDS SHALL BE ISSUED TO REPRESJNT THE COST THEREOF. be read.
