HomeMy WebLinkAboutMinutes - June 20, 1928 - CCCITY HALL'i AZUSA, CALIFORNIA, WEDNESDAY, JUNE 20, 1928. 7:30 P.M. 3_37 The City Council of the City of Azusa met in adjourned session at the above time and place. Present at roll call: Stone, Smith, Dilley, Absent: City Attorney. Councilmen: Demmitt, Howard and City Clerk. After a communication had been read from the Chamber of Commerce, Councilman Smith reported that the Police had looked after the matter of parking a truck too near the highway, and the matter of clearing away the brush was left to the Board of Public Works. Moved by Councilman Dilley, seconded by Councilman Demmitt that the City Attorney be instructed to prepare bids for chaffs, carpet and curtains for the auditorium of the new City Hall., separately and as a whole. Carried by the following vote of the Council: Ayes: Councilmen: Demmitt, Stone, Smith, Dilley, Howard. Noes: None. Absent: None. Moved by Councilman Dem. itt, seconded by Councilman Stone and duly carried that Councilman Dilley be granted a leave of absence. Moved by Councilman Dilley, seconded by Councilman Demmitt that the amount donated to the Chamber of Commerce for advertising be reduced from $75.00 to $25.00 per month, to be effective July 1, 1928. Carried by the following vote of the Council: Ayes: Councilmen Demmitt, Stone, Smith, Dilley, Howard. Noes: None. Absent: None. The City Clerkwas instructed to inform the Planning Commission that the City Council desired the Commission to submit to the Council their idea of improving and beautifying Azusa Avenue and F&othill Boulevard. Moved by Councilman Demmitt, seconded by Councilman Dilley that the City purchase a new heater for the Fire Hall at a cost of $40.00 including the old heater, the work to be done under the direction of Councilman Smith. Carried by the following vote of the Council: Ayes: Councilmen: Demm itt, Stone, Smith, Dilley, Howard. Noes: None. Absent: None. Moved by Councilman Dilley, seconded by Councilman Smith that the Council adjourn. City Attorney instruct• ed to advertise for bids for furnishing auditorium. Councilman Dilley granted leave of absence. Chamber of Commerce to be paid $25.00 Rer month instead of §75.00. Planning Commission to submit their idea of improvement of Azusa Ave. and Foothill Blvd. New heater to be in- stalled at Fire Full to cost $40.00. 338 J
