Present at roll call: Councilmen: Demmitt, Stone, Smith, Dilley, Hoerr, -rd, City Attorney and City Clerk. A communication was read from Mrs. C. C. Carpenter, Secretary for the Azusa Woman's Club, inviting the City Council to attend the opening of the new Club House on Ido^day evening, October 1, 1928, ' at eight o'clock. Moved by Councilman Demmitt, seconded by Councilman Smith that the Council adjourn on Monday evening' at eight o'clock to attend said meeting. Carried by the following vote of the Council: Ayes: Councilmen: Demmitt, Stone, Smith, Dilley, Howard. Noes: None. Absent: None. Mr. W. A. Johnson's contract for a sprinkling system having been read, it was moved by Councilman Dilley, seconded by Councilman Smith that the Mayor and City Clerk be instructed to sign the contract on behalf of the City. Carried by the follovirg vote of the Council: Ayes: Councilmen: Demmitt, Stone, Smith, Dilley, Howard. Noes: done. Absent: None. Moved by Councilman Dilley, seconded Councilman Smith and carried that a resolution entitled: A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AZUSA, CALIFORNIA, PROVID- ING FOR THE TRANSFER OF FOUR THOUSAND 'DOLLARS (14000.00) FROLr TOE ELECTRIC LIGHT FUND AND THREE THOUS:',ND FIVE HUNDRED DOLLARS (P3500.00) FROM THE WATER FUND TO THE GENERP.L FUND. be read. This resolution was then read.. Moved by Councilman Smith, seconded by Councilman Stone that this resolu- tion be adopted as read and numbered Resolution No. 1123. Carried by the following vote of the Council: Ayes: Councilmen: Dilley, Stone, S,r.ith, Howard. Noes: Councilman Demmitt. Absent: None. A communication regarding the eradicat- ing of the argentine ant having been read, Mr. Brecht introduced Tar. Becker of the County Horticultural Department who made a short talk asking the coopera- tion of the City in the destruction of this pest. Moved by Cou-cilman Smith, seconded by Councilman Stone and duly carried that this matter be laid over until the next meeting. Carried by the follorvi-g vote of the Council: Ayes: Councilmen: Demmitt, Stone, Smith, Dilley, Howard. Noes: None. Absent: None. Mr. R. M. Bates, Jr., •_rchitect for tle new City Hall appeared before the Council with regard to the balance of $158.18 due him on his contract. City Council to ad- iourn and attend opening of Woman's Club ''ouse. Contract for sprinkl- ing' s7;stem to be signed by Mayor and City Clerk. RESOLUTION NO. 1123 ADOPTED. Bates, Jr. Carried by the following vote of the Council: Ayes: Councilmen: Demmitt, Stone, Smith, Dilley, Howard. Noes: None. Absent: None. Moved by Councilman Smith, seconded by Councilman Stone that Mission ' Style, 16 Inch Lettersbe placed on the Auditorium and City Hall and smaller letters of the same style on the Library. Carried by, the follo•sing vote of the Council: Ayes: Councilmen: Demmitt,Stone, Smith Dilley, Howard. Noe-: None. Absent: None. Moved by Councilman Smith, seconded By Councilman Dilley and duly carried that the Council adjourn. Architect, R. M.
