The City Council of the Cit- of
Azusa met in regular session at
the above time and place.
Present at roll call: Councilmen:
Demmitt, Stone, Smith, Dilley, Howard,
City Attorney and City Clerk.
Councilman Demmitt protested against
the Committee named at the last meet-
ing of the Council regarding the coming
Bond Election, being called a Citizen's
' Committee and their being seated at the
Council table.
The opinion of the City :attorney as to
the legality of the transfer of monies
from the Water and Light Funds to the
General Fund was read and ordered filed.
The written report of the City :attorney
of the meeting of the Colorado Aqueduct
Association was received and on motion
by Councilman Demmitt, seconded by Council-
man Stone and duly carried, was accepted
and ordered publis"od as a news item.
The request of Dr. Furstman for screens
in the Clinic in the new City Hall. Build-
ing, was on motion by Czuncilman Smith,
seconded by Councilman Alley referred to
the PurchasinE- Colm�ittee with power to
act. Carried by the following vote of the
Co>>ncil:
Ayes: Councilmen: Demmitt, Stone, Smith,
Dilley, Howard. Noes: None. absent: None.
A letter from the San Gabriel Valley
Developement Association and a copy of a
letter sent to Or. George Jones by the
Azusa Chamber of Commerce were ordered
placed on file.
On motion by Councilman S-ith, seconded
by Councilman Dilley, Walter Lovelace
was granted a two weeks leave of alseoce
with pay.
Carried by the following vote of the
Council:
Ayes: Councilman: Demmitt, Store, Smith,
Dilley, Howard. Foes: None. Absent: None.
The report of the Finance Committee on
the renting of the Community Hall and the
payment to C. L. Nichols bill were laid
over until Oct 22, 1928.
The City Clerk was instructed to return
to Byron Jackson Pum? Company their draft
deposited as security on the _purchase of
the new pump.
Carried by the following vote of the Council
Ayes: Councilmen: Demmitt, Stone, Smith,
Dilley, Howard. Noes: None. Absent: None.
Moved by Councilman Dilley, seconded by
Councilman Smith that an ordinance
