AN ORDINANCE REGULATING PUBLIC DANCES IN THE
CITY OF AZUSA AND FIXING A PENALTY FOR THE VIOLATION
THEREOF.
The Board of Trustees of the City of Azusa do ordain:
as follows:
SECTION 1. That for the purposes of this ordinance
a public dance is hereby defined to be, a dance open to the
public, or to which persons are admitted, or at which persons
are allowed to dance upon the payment of a fee or charge, and
for admission to which, or for dancing at which the person
or persons managing or conducting the same, or holding or
carrying on a dance, or dancing thereat, does not make or cause
to be made separately for each date upon which a dance, or
dancing is conducted or held, a special and bona fide
selection or choice of the persons to be admitted to, or to
be permitted to dance thereat.
SECTION 2. It shall be unlawful for any person,
firm or corporation, club, association, committee or
organization conducting, carrying on or having charge or
control of any public dance in the City of Azusa to hold,
conduct or carry on or to cause or permit to be held,
conducted or carried on any such public dance, or dancing in
the City of Azusa between the hours a twelve o'clock midnight
of any Saturday and six o'clock A. M. of the following
Monday.
SECTION,3. It shall be unlawful for any person,
firm or corporation, club, association, committee or
organization at any time when any public dance, or public
dancing is in progress, or being held, conducted or carried
on, to sell, furnish, serve or give away, or to cause or

permit to be sold, furnished, served or given away, any
intoxicating liquor in any room or place connected with, or
used in connection with the premises upon which such public
dance is being held, or at any place upon the same premises

or within the same enclosure in which such dancing is held,
conducted or carried on. And it shall be unlawful for any
person at any time when a public dance or public dancing is
in progress, or being held, conducted or carried on to take or
bring into, or to drink in, or to cause, or permit to be taken
or brought into, or to be drunk in , such place where such
public dance is in progress, any intoxicating liquor, or to
take or bring any such intoxicating liquor into, or to drink
the same in, or to cause, or to permit the same to be taken
into, or to be drunk in any room, or place connected with,
or upon the same premises, or within the same enclosure in
which such public dance is carried on.
SECTION 4. It shall be unlawful for any person,
firm or corporation, club, association, committee or organiza-
tion managing, holding, conducting or carrying on, or having
charge or control of any public dance, or for any person
employed in and about the same, to allow or permit any
intoxicated, boisterous or disorderly person to enter, be or
remain at, or to dance at, any such public dance, or upon
the premises on which the same is being conducted or held.
SECTION 5. Any person violating any of the provisions
of this ordinance shall be deemed guilty of a misdemeanor, and
upon conviction thereof, shall be punishable by a fine of not
more than Three Hundred ($300.00) Dollars, ortby imprisonment
in the City Jail of said City of Azusa, foxymo.re,than ninety
(90) days, or by both such fine and imprisonment.
SECTION 6. The City Clerk shall certify to the
passage of this ordinance and shall cause the same to be

published once in the Pomotropic, a weekly newspaper of
general circulation, published and circulated in said City
of Azusa, and thereupon and thereafter it shall be in full
force and effect. (L
