The Board of Trustees' of the City of Azusa do ordain as follows
Section 1. That the office of City Electrician is hereby estab-
lished, the inbumbent of which shall be known and designated as
City Electrician and who shall be appointed by and serve during the
pleasure of said Board of Trustees of said city, and who shall give
bond to said City for the faithful performance of his duties in such
sum as may be determined by said Doard.
Section 2. The City Electrician shall inspect and have the
supervision of all installation, arrangement, alteration, repair, us(
and operation of electric wiring, connections, fixtures and other
electrical appliances in buildings and other structures in the City
of Azusa and it shall be unlawful for any person, firm or corporation
to place or install or to cause or permit to be placed or installed
in any building, any wiring)apparatus or fixtures for the use of
electricity without Eirst obtaining from the City electrician. a
written permit so to do. Such hermit shall state the kind of work
to be done thereunder and it shall be unlawful for any person, firm
or corporation to do or perform or to cause to permit to be done or
performed, any work other than that designated in such permit.
Such permit shall also state the location by street and number of
the building where such work is to be done, and shall be valid only
for the location so stated.
Section 3. :,'hen any electric wiring apparatus or fixtures cover
ed by any permit, shall be Bound on inspection by the City Electrici
to conform to the rules and regulations provided by this Ordinance,
the City electrician shall issue a final certificate of inspection

certifying that such wiring, apparatus -or fixtures have been inspec
and found to comply with the.te.rms of this Ordinance, but no such
certificate—shall be. granted, until, such equipment is made to conform
to the rules and regulations prescribed herein.
It -shall be unlawful for.any person, firm ror corporation to use
or,to•cause or permit to.be used, any electric current in or through
or by means of any wiring, ,apparatus or fixtures in any building, un
til the same shall have been inspQcted.and approved by the City
electrician, and the certificate hereinbefore provided for shall
have been issued therefor,
It shall, be unlawful for any person, firm or corporation furni,
ing e;leetric current for light, heat or power to connect, or to
cause or permit to be connected., his. or its distributing system with
any ir�stall.ation of wiring, apparatus or fixtures in any building,
ti°rithout first having received written permission from the City :Aec-
trieian to furnish, current for such pricing, apparatus or fixtures.
Such permission shall be .given by the City -electrician on demand at
any time after the cnrti.ficate provided for in this section has been
issued for the wiring, apparatus anand fixtures so to be connected.
The City-.'Iectrlcian may .also before such certificate is issued,
give temporary pormission to furnish.or use electric current through
any wiring, apparatus or fixtures for a period not ezceeding fifteen
clays, if in his opinion such wiring, apparatus or fixtures are in
such condition that ,current may safely be used therein, and there
exists an ,urgent, necessity for such use.
Section 4. T'.,at the rules and -regulations of the National
Board of Fire Underwriters, embodied in its "National Electrical
Code" as amended and published in 1913,which are hereby referred to
and made a part of this ordinance, are hereby adopted as the rules
and regulations governing the installation of electric wiring,
apparatus and fixtures.in buildings; and that all electric wiring,
apparatus and fixtures governed by this ordinance shall be made to

I conform to the said"i:ational 1,lectrical Code", before such wiring,
2 apparatus or fixtures are accepted by the City ;electrician.
3 It shall be unlawful for any person, firm or corporation wither
4 as owner, architeat, contractor, artisan or otherwise to do or to
5 cause or permit to be done any electric wiring or any installinrs of
61 electric apparatus or fixtures in such manner that the sante shall
7 not conform to all of the provisions of this Ordinance.
8 Section 5. If the City Electrician shall find any part of any
9 electric wirin3, apparatus or fixtures in or about any building in
10 the City of Azusa to have been installed without a permit, or not in
11 accordance with the provisions of this Obdinance, or to be dangerous
12 to life or property, the City electrician shall have the right and
13I power to disconnect such defective work and place a seal upon such
14 work so disconnected. He shall at the same time Sive Written notice
15 of such disconnection to the owner or occupant of the building in
16 which such disconnecting has been done, or to the person using; currer.
17 by means of such disconnected wiring apparatus or fixtures,aft3r sucl•
18 di-sconnectedwiring, apparatus or fixtures have been put in the con-
19 dition required by this Ordinance, the seal or seals so placed shall
20 be removed by the City-lectrician.
21, It shall be unlawful for any person, firm or corporation to use
22 any current in, through or by means of such disconnected wiring, app -
23 ratus or fixtures, or to remove, break or deface any seal so placed.
24 Section 6. Every person, firm or .corporation makinC application
25 for any permit to do electrical work under the terms of this Ordin-
26 ante, shall at the time of such application, file with the City
27 .Electrician, a .plan or statement showing the character and amount of
28such worm, and shall, at the same time, deposit with said City slec-
29 trician the amount of the fees for the permit and for the inspection
30 of all work shown on said plan or statement in accordance with the
31 terms of this Ordinance.

tion of the work shall be necessary, the person, firm or corporation
to whom the permit is issued shall pay the City Rlectrician the in-
spection fees therefor, according to the terms of this Ordinance,
within ten days after demand therefor by said City Electrician; and
if such person, firm or corporation shall fail or refuse to pay such
fees within such period of ten days, the City electrician shall not
thereafter issue to such person, firm or corporation any permit for
the doing of any electrical worn until such fees are paid.
Section 7. Upon making an inspection of and accepting any elec-
trical equipment,, shall leave a notice at the service
switch or other suitable place stating that the electrical work has
been inspected and accepted by the Department of electricity.
Section 8. It shall be unlawful for any person, firm or corpora
tion to conceal, or to cause or permit to be concealed, any wiring
for which a permit has been issued or is required, before such wirin.
is inspected and accepted as required by this Ordinance.
Section S. FMS: That the City Electrician shall charge and
collect from the person,firm or corporation to whom any permit for
doing any electrical work is issued under the terms of this Ordinanc

For each removal of motors or generators upon which a final certi-
ficate has formerly been issued by the City ,electrician, a fee
for inspecting such motor or generator of not less than 75 cents
per hour shall be charged.
For electric signs containing 25 lamps or less ............... .50

lamp in excess of 25.02.............
Section 10. Every person, firm or corporation violating any
of the provisions of this ordinance shall be deemed guilty of a
misdemeanor and upon conviction thereof shall be punishable by a fin
of not more than One Hundred (;i100.00) Dollars or by imprisonment in
the City Jail for a period of not more than ninety (9p) days or by
both such fine and imppisonment.
Section 11. The City Clerk shall certify to the passage of this
ordinance and shall cause the same to be published once in the Pomo-
tropic, a weekly newspaper published and circulated in s id City or

conspicuously posted in three public places within the corporate
limits of the pity of Azusa, for a period of ten days and the same
shall take effect and be in full force thirty (30) days from and
after its said passage.
