Present at roll ball: Councilmen: Johnson, Mace, Muehe,. Meier, City Attorney, and City Clerk. Absent Councilman Demmrttt. The minutes of the last regular meet- ing -of June 17th and of the Special Session of June 21, 1929 were read and approved as read. A communication from the League of California Municipalities was read. Moved by Councilman Muehe, seconded by Councilman Johnson that the mat- ter of Insurance protecting the City against liability resulting from negligent operation by City officers or employees of a motor vehicle, be referred to the Finance and Audit Com- mittee to report back at the next meeting. A request for use of the Auditorium for a public meeting made by Mr. Nichols, Sec. of the San Gabriel Merchants Credit Association was presehtdd. Moved by Councilman Muehe, seconded by Councilman rviace that the City Clerk be instructed to offer the use of the Audi-tori.um for one night free of charge, to the San Gabriel P.Ierchants Credit Association. HENDLEY AS DEPUTY CITY CLERK OF TIT CITY OF AZUS=,. AND FIXING HER SALARY OR COMPENSATION. be read. This resolution was then read. Moved by Councilman Muehe, seconded by Council- man Johnson that the City Clerk be instructed to order the police telephone,which was instal- led in the alley, discontinued. Carried by the following vote of the Council: Ayes: Councilmen: Johnson, ?pace, Muehe, Meier. Noes: None. Absent: Councilman: Demmitt. Moved by Councilman Tluehe, see-nded by Council- man Mace that the matter of replacing trees on Tenth,Street be referred to the Board of Public Works. Carried by the following vote of the Council: Ayes: Councilmen: Johnson, Mace. Muehe; Meier. Noes: None. :A.bsent: Councilman: Demmitt. Moved by Councilman Muehe, seconded by Council- man Mace that the Citl'r of Azusa apply for membership in the San Gabriel Protective Association to the extent of one thousand acres and the City Clerk is hereby authorized to make and sign a warrant in the sum of thirty dollars on the basis of three cents per acre as an admission fee.• Carried by the following vote of the Council: Ayes: Councilmen: Johnson, Mace, Muehe, Meier. Noes: None. Absent: Councilman: De^-imitt. Moved by Councilman Mace, seconded by Councilman Johnson that the Suoerin ten!lent of Light and Water be instrur.tod to notify the collector of Light and i''ater to have the employees in her office,as well as herself, work eight hours per day, opening the office at eight o'clock and closing at five o'clock, with one hour off for luncheon. Carried by the following vote of the Council: Ayes: Councilmen: Johnson, Mace, Muehe, Meier. Noes: None. Absent: Councilman: Demmitt.
