AN ORDINANCE OF THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF THE
CITY OF AZUSA PROVIDING FOR THE REGULATION OF THE
3
ELECTRIC SYSTEM OF SAID CITY AND ESTABLISHING THE
RATES FOR ELECTRIC SERVICE BY SAID CITY AND RE-
4
PEALING ORDINANCE NO.185 IN RELATION THERETO.

The Board of Trustees of the City of Azusa do ordain as
6
follows:

Section 1.. The monthly rates to be charged and collect -
8
ed by the City of Azusa for electricity supplied from its else -
9
trio system to consumers shall be as follows:

Schedule No. 1. DOMESTIC AIT COMMERCIAL LIGHTING RATE:
11
For the first 16 kilowatt hours or less, consumed in any one
month, $1.00.

For more than 16 kilowatt hours consumed in any one month, as
13
follows:

For the first 50 kilowatt hours 6 cents per kilowatt hour

For the next 50 kilowatt hours 5 cents per kilowatt hour

For the next 100 kilowatt hours 5 cents per kilowatt hour

For the next 100 kilowatt hours 4 cents per kilowatt hour

For energy in excess of 300 kilowatt hours per month, 3-j cents
per kilowatt hour.

Schedule No. 2. COMBINED LIGHTING, HEATING AND COOK -
ING RATE:

For all consumption of electric enemy in residences and
20
apartments, through one meter, where an electric range,, elec-
tric water heater or an electric air heater of one kilowatt or
21
more capacity is installed and used for cooking and heating
purposes, the following rates shall apply.

For the first 30 kilowatt hours consumed in any one month 6 cents
23
per kilowatt hour.
24
For the next 100 kilowatt hours 3 cents per kilowatt hour
25
For energy in excess of 130 kilowatt hours per month 2 cents
per kilowatt hour.

The minimum monthly charge under this schedule shall be $2.50.

Schedule No, 3. GENERAL POWER RATE:

Applicable to all power consumers.

For the first 100 kilowatt hours consumed in any one month 5
cents per kilowatt hour.

For the next 100 kilowatt hours 4 cents per kilowatt hour

For all ener in excess of 201000 kilowatt hours per month 1.7
cents per ki owatt hour.
5 The above rates shall apply for energy furnished at 110, 220 or
6 440 volts.
7 Minimum monthly charge for installations of 5 horse power or
less, $2.00 per month. For installations of over 5 horse power
8 a minimum charge of 50 cents per horse power pmr month shall be
made. x
9 For energy furnished at 2200 volts, for installations of 50
10 horse power or over the above rates shall apply, less one half
of one mil l($0.00051 per kilowatt hour, for all energy used.
11 Schedule No: 4. MUNICIPAL LIGHTING SERVICE.
12 Applicable to all Municipal lighting purposes.
13 4 cents per kilowatt hour for all energy consumed for lighting
14 purposes.
15 Section 2. All meters used by the consumers must be so
16 placed on the buildings upon which they are located that they
17 may be accessible to the Superintendent of the Electric.System or
18 his assistants at all times.
19 All meters used in the electric service of the City of
20 Azusa shall be under the control of the City of Azusa, and the
21 City of Azusa may at its option place a meter upon any building
22 or room to which it is supplying electric service. The City of
23 Azusa will not be responsible for damages to any buildings or
24 their contents from any break in its wires beyond the meter. The
25 City of Azusa will connect its lines to the meter located on
26 any building or room conforming to the provisions of this ordin-
27 ance as to wiring and distance. The wiring for electric service
28 in any building hereafter erected, altered or repaired, shall be
29 subject to the inspection and approval of the Superintendent of the
30 Rlectric System.
31 .Section 3. All electricity furnished to consumers in the
32 ity of Azusa shall be chargedto the owner of the premises to which

the electric service is furnished and the owner of said premises
shall be held responsible for the payment of the electric service
bills furnished to premises owned by him.
Section d. Service rates will be charged for premises
vacated in every instance until the City shall be notified by
the owner of the premises or his agent in writing, filed with
the Superintendent of the Electric System of the discontinuance
of the service and to disconnect the same.
Section 5. The Superintendent of the Electric System or
any duly authorized employee of the City shall be admitted at
all reasonable hours to all parts of the premises supplied with
electricity to see that the regulations of this ordinance are
observed. No one except the Superintendent of.the Electric
System or some one expressly authorized by him shall turn the
electricity on or off from any building or premises. No person
shall tap any electric wire belonging to the City of Azusa or
in any manner whatever meddle or interfere with any part of
said Electric System, machinery, tools or appliances used in
connection therewith, without the written permission of the Sup—
erintendent.
Section 6. Any person, firm or corporation violating any
of the provisions of this Ordinance shall be deemed guilty of
a misdemeanor and upon conviction thereof in a court of competent
jurisdiction shall be fined not less than five nor more than
fifty dollars, or be punished by imprisonment in the City Jail
not exceeding twenty—five days, or by both such fine and impris—
onment.
Section 7. The office of Superintendent of the Electric
System shall be and -is hereby created and all appointments to
such office shall be made by resolution of the .Board of Trustees
of said City of Azusa, duly passed at a regular meeting thereof,
which said resolution shall fix the salary or compensation to be

I paid the appointee therein named, and such appointee shall hold
2 office during the pleasure of said Board of Trustees.
3 Section S. Said Superintendent shall have, subject to
4 the control of the Board of Tr).stees, general charge, supervision
5 and control of the Electric System of the City of Azusa, and shall
6 read or cause to be read all meters on the first day.of each month
7 and at such other times as may be required. He shall have.general
8 supervision over all repairs, tappings and additions to the Sys -
9 tem and out off or cause to be cut off the service from any consumer
10 upon the written report of the Collector of Revenues showing the
11 non-payment of service bills or upon any violation of any of the
12 provisions of this Ordinance, and generally to do and perform .every
13 duty required of him by law or any ordinances of said city or by

15 Section 9. It shall be the duty of the Superintendent to

17 and deliver to the Collector of Revenues of said city on or before
18 the second day of each month. meter readings for all electric ser -
19 vice furnished by said city during the preceding month.
20 Section 10. Parties wishing electric service or the dis-
21 continuance of the same must sign the regular blanks provided,
22 giving the street number where service is desired.

25 Where the prospective consumer is more than 250 feet dis-
26 tant from the nearest pole on the street or alley next to the pro -
27 erty to be connected or where there is difficulty in getting ser -
28 vice to said consumer, a contract must be entered into for extra
29 compensation to the City of Azusa, -and the Superintendent shall
30 recommend such extra compensation after he shall have made an ex -
31 amination of the case. In no case shall a new connection be made
32 unless the applicant agrees to use the service for at least six

Section 11. That Ordinance No. 185 of the City of Azusa,

and repealing Ordinance No. 114 in relation thereto." adopted

April 2, 1917, be and the same is hereby repealed.'
