It shall be unlawful for any person, firm 9 or corporation to keep open, or to cause or permit to be kept 10 open, for the purpose of permitting the public or people to con - 11 gre#ate therein, any thsater, concert hall. entertainment or 12 amusement place, church, school, hall, fair,"exhiFition or any 13 place of public resort or assembly in which in the opinion of 31 14 the Health Officer of the City of Azusa it is dangerous to the xa'aw 15 public health for persons to congregate or assemble until suuh Ua,vv 16 time as the health officer shall have filed with the City Clerk za^� 17 of the City of Azusa a statement that in his judgment the danger 18 from an epidemic of influenza or the spread of such an epidemic 19 in the City of Azusa no longer exists. 20 When in the opinion of the Health Officer of the City 21 of Azusa it is dangerous to the public health of said city for 22 persons to congregate or assemble in any place or places not 23 specifically mentioned herein the said health officer .shall give 24 notice thereof by publishing such notice in the Pomotropic, a 25 weekly newspaper of general circulation published in the City of 26 Azusa, or in his discretion, by posting such notice in three 27 public places in said City of Azusa. Such notice may be directed 28 to specific meetings ar may be by proper description directed 29 to all meetings in general. 30 SECTION 2. It shall be unlawful for any persons to 31 meet or assemble together in any of the places mentioned or 32 referred to in Section 1 of this Ordinance prior to the filing of -1- 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10 11 12 13 1 C . 14 A0 ' 15 ud,.m s� 16 m`ova m 17 18 19 20 21 22 23 24 25 26 27 28 29 30 31 32 the statement of the Health Officer of said City as provided in said Section. 1 hereof. SECTION 3. Any person, firm or corporation violating any of the provisions of this Ordinance shall be deemed guilty of a misdemeanor and upon conviction thereof shall be punished by a fine oe not more than Three Hundred ($300.) Dollars or by imprisonment in the City Jail of the City of Azusa for a period of not more then Three .(3) months, or by both suchfine and impri— sonment. SECTION 4. This Ordinance is urgently required for the immediate preservation of the public health, peace and safety, and the following is a specific statement showirg the urgency of this ordinance: That influenza now exists in the City of Azusa and the same is liable to become epidemic in said City and in order to prevent the same from becoming epidemic such an ordinance is now immediately required. SECTION 5. The City Clerk shall certify to the passage of this Ordinance by vote of four—fifths of all the members of the Board of Trustees of said City of Azusa and its approval by the President of said Board and shall cause the same to be published once in The Pomotropic, a weekly newspaper of general circulation published and circulated in said City of Azusa and thereupon and thereafter the same shall be in full force and effect.
