The City Council of the City of Azusa met in regular adjourned session at the above time and place. Present at roll call: Councilmen: Johnson, Mace, Muehe, Meier, City Clerk. Absent: Councilman: Demmitt. and City Attorney. City Attorney entered and took his seat during reading of protests. IN THE MATTER OF THE PROPOSED IMPROVEI',IENT OF CERTAIN PORTIONS OF FOOTHILL BOULEW RD AND CERTAIN PORTIONS OF OTHER STREETS AND AVENUES IN THE -CITY OF AZUSA, CALIFORNIA. Ill The Clerk called the attention of the City Council to the fact that Resolution of Intention No. 1158 in the matter of the propos- ed improvement of Foothill Boulevard and certain portions of others streets and avenuesjin the City of Azusa had been regularly published and that the Notices required by law have been given and that this hour, 7:30 o'clock, P.BI. in the Council Chamber of the City Council in the City Hall of the City of Azusa was the time.and place set for hearing objections. The Mayor then inquired if any written objections had been filed with the Clerk. She reported that written protests or objections had been filed by the following: John E. Hill et. al., (Minnie Speer Hill, et al., H. Deardoff et. al., R. B.'Demmitt etal., firma Bell, et. al Roy 14. Sith and Sue M. Geldermann, Winifred B. anes, et.al., anc� Chas. L. Nichols and proceeded to read the said protests. The Mayor then asked if anyone desired to be heard on the said protests and the City Council was addressed by Messrs. Lawin, Linn, Morgan, Perry, Chandler, Eagle, et. al., in support of the said protests. The Mayor then inquired if anyone else desired to be heard with reference to the said protests and no one responded. Thereupon, after full opportunity had been given to every person desiring, to be heard in the matter of the said protests, on motion of Councilman Muehe, seconded by Councilman Johnson, and car- ried it was moved that the hearing be closed and that the protests be referred to.the City Egnineer for a report: Moved by Councilman Muehe, seconded by Councilman Johnson and duly carried that the council adjourn for a,thirty minute recess The City Engineer reported that the totalarea of the property owned by the protestants was 8.7% of the total area of the property within the assessment district and that the protest was not made by the owners of more than one-half of the area of the property to be assessed for then aid proposed improvements. Thereupon Councilman Irluehe introduced a resolution entitled: "A Resolution over -ruling protests in the matter of the improvement of Foothill Boulevard and certain portions of other streets and avenues within the City of Azusa", and moved its adoption. Councilman Johnson moved the adoption, which was seconded by Councilman_ Mace and upon roll call the said Resolution was adopted by the following vote:Ayes: Councilmen: Johnson, Mace, Iduehe, Meier. Noes: None. Absent: Councilman: Demmitt. Councilman Johnson moved that Resolution Pio. 1168, entitled, "A Resolution of the City Council of the City of Azusa ordering the improvement of Foothill Boulevard and certain portions of other streets and avenues in said City" beadopted, which motion was seconded by Councilman Muehe and carried by the following vote: Ayes: Councilmen: Johnson, Mace, IvIuehe, Meier. Councilman Mace moved that Resolution No. 1169, entitled: "A Resolution of the City Council of the City of Azusa directing certain work or improvement as contemplated by Resolution of Intention No. 1158, adopted August 5th, 1929, to be done under the direction of the City Engineer of said City", be adopted, which motion was seconded by Councilman Muehe and carried by the following vote: Ayes: Councilmen: Johnson, Mace, Muehe, Meier. Noes: None. Absent: Councilman: Demmitt. Councilman Johnson moved that Resolution No. 1170 entitled: "A Resolution of the City Council of the City of Azusa ordering ' the City Engineer of said City to prepare plans and Specifications for the improvement of Coney Avenue and certain portions of other Streets and Avenues within said City", be adopted, which motion was seconded by Councilman Muehe and carried by the following votq: Ayes: Councilmen: Johnson, Mace, Iduehe, Meier.
