AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF AZUSA, LOS ANGELES COUNTY,
CALIFORNIA, REGULATING THE SALE AND DISCHARGE OF FIREWORKS AND
THE ISSUANCE OF PEREITS THEREFORE.
The City Council of the City of Azusa does ordain as
follows:
Section 1. Except on July 1, 2, 3, and 4 of each year,
it shall be unlawful for any person, firm or corporation to sell
or offer for sale in the City of Azusa any caps, blank cartridges,
cap pistols, toy pistols, torpedoes, firecrackers, roman candles,
rockets or other fireworks of any kind, nature or description.
Section 2. Except on July 1, 2, 3, and 4 of each year,
it shall be unlawful for any person, firm or corporation in the
City of Azusa to discharge or cause to be discharged any caps,
blank cartridges,cap pistols, toy pistols, torpedoes, firecrackers,
r,oman candles, rockets or other fireworks of any kind, nature
or description.
Section 3. The provisions of Sections 1 and 2 of this
Ordinance shall not apply to celebrations of a public, semi-
public or similar nature where fireworks are used pursuant to
a written permit of this Council or of the Chief of Police of
said City, which permit may specify the hours, places and such
other regulations as may be deemed advisable.
Section 4. Any person, firm or corporation violating
any of the provisions of this Ordinance shall be deemed guilty
of a misdemeanor and upon conviction thereof shall be punished
by a fine not exceeding $300.00 or by imprisonment in the City
Jail of said. City or the County Jail of Los Angeles County,
California, for a period not exceeding three months or by both
such fine and imprisonment.
Section 5. All ordinances or portions of ordinances
in conflict herewith are hereby repealed.
Section 6. This ordinance is hereby declared to be an
urgency measure necessary for the immediate preservation of
the public peace, health and safety, and shall take effect
_ immediately. The facts constituting its urgency and such
necessity are as follows: That by reason of the fact that
Ordinance No. 141, entitled "AN ORDINANCE OF THE BOARD OF
TRUSTEES OF TIM CITY OF AZTTSA PROHIBITING THE SALE OF BLANK
CARTRIDGES, FIRECRACKERS, ETC., AND REGULATITTG THE DISCHARGE
THEREOF AND REGULATING THE ISSUANCE OF PERMITS THEREFOR" was
expressly repealed by Ordinance No.3 0 9 , entitled "AN ORDI-
NANCE OF THE CITY OF AZUSA, LOS ANGELES COUNTY, CALIFORNIA,
REPEALING ORDINANCE NO. 141",duly passed and adopted on May
21, 1934, effective thirty days thereafter as provided therein,
there will be on and after the effective date of said Ordinance
No.3 0ci , no ordinance of said City in force or effect regulat-
ing or preventing the purchase, sale, discharging, firing or
setting off of any caps, blank cartridges, cap pistols, toy
Pistols, torpedoes, firecrackers, roman candles, rockets or other
fireworks in said City; that no ordinance, other than an urgency
ordinance, can become effective at the time said Ordinance No.
becomes effective, or for a considerable time thereafter; that
in the absence of an adequate regulatory and prohibitory ordinance
as provided hereby, life and property and the public peace, health
and safety will be greatly and seriously disturbed and endangered.
Section 7. The Mayor shall sign this ordinance and the
City Clerk shall attest and certify to the passage, adoption and
Publication of the same and cause the same to be published once,
within fifteen days after its passage, in the Azusa Herald and

Pomotropic, a weekly newspaper of general circulation published
and circulated in said City, and immediately upon its final
passage the same shall take effect and be in farce.
