AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF AZUSA,
LOS ANGELES COUNTY, CALTFORNTTIA,
REQUIRING CASH DEPOSIT OR OTHER
SECURITY TO BE 1r1ADE TO SECURE AFD
PAY BILLS FOR WATER AND ELECTRICITY.
The City Council of the City of Azusa does ordain
Section 1. From the effective date of
this Ordinance thenceforth, all persons,
firms or corporations entering into any
contract or agreement or filing any
application with the City of Azusa or
any Department thereof, for any new or
additional water or electricity service,
or connection, shall be required to make
a deposit in cash or to give other
evidence of sufficient credit satisfactory
to the Department furnishing or to fur-
nish the service or connection, to secure
the payment of bills, which security shall
be in an amount not exceeding the charges
for the quantity of water or electricity
which the Department reasonably estimates
will be consumed in two months, provided
that no deposit or other security shall be
less than x2.00 for water and not less
than $3.00 for electricity. Such security,
while in force, shall be at all times
available to the City, and may be by it
or by any Department thereof, applied or
enforced at any time towards the payment
of any viater or electricity bills to which
it is or may be applicable.
Section 2. The Superintendent or Superintendents
of the Department or Departments of Water, Light
and Power shall be,and the same is/are hereby,
authorized and directed to make and enforce
such rules and regulations and amendments thereof
and changes thereto not inconsistent with or
contrary to the provisions of this ordinance as
are or may be requisite or proper in order to
carry the terms of this ordinance into effect.
Section 3. The Mayer shall sign this Ordinance
and the City Clerk shall attest same and
certify to the passage, adoption and publication
of the same and shall cause the same to be
published once, within fifteen days after
its passage, in the Azusa Herald and Pomotropic,
a weekly newspaper of general circulation published
and circulated in the City of Azusa, which said
newspaper is heroby designated for that purpose,
and thereupon and thereafter thirty days after
its passage this Ordinance shall take effect and
be in force.

regular meeting of the City Council of the City of Azusa
held on June 6,1938„ in the regular Council Chambers of said
City Council in said City; that said Ordinance was plaoed
upon its first reading at said regular meeting June '6,1938;
that thereafter said Ordinance was duly and regularly passed and
adopted by said Council, signed and approved by the Mayor
and attested by the City Clerk of said City at a regular meeting
of said Counbil so held in the regular Council Chambers at the
neat regular meeting of.said City Council on June 20,1938, and
that the same was passed and adopted by the following vote

I do further certify that i caused said
Ordinance to be published prior to the expiration of
fifteen days from the passage thereof in the Azusa

was published in accordance with law.
