HomeMy WebLinkAboutOrdinance No. 339ORDINANCE 140. ¢3 AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF AZUSA, LOS ANGELES COUNTY, CALIFORNIA, ADOPTED BY THE CITY COUNCIL THEREOF, PROVIDING Ali ALTERNATIVE MTHOD FOR THE PAYMENT OF DELINQUENT TAXES AIdD ASSESSITENTS BY DECE,IBER 31,1938, UPON CERTAIN TERMS AND CONDITIONS. The City Council of the City of Azusa does ordain as follows; SECTION 1. (A) "Taxes" as used in this section includes all taxes and assessments and annual installments of assessments charged on the tax roll. (B) In all cases where real estate has been sold, or an entry has been made on the tax roll of the city that same has been sold, to the city* on or before June 30,1938, for delinquent taxes, and the city has not disposed of the same, the person whose estate has been sold, his heirs, executors, admin- istrators or other successors in interest, may, on or before December 31,1938, pay said delinquent taxes in an amount hereinafter set forth, on condition that at the time of paying such delinquent taxes or prior thereto, such taxpayer pays or shall have paid the first installment, plus all penalties for any delinquencies in the payment of such first installment, of the current taxes for the fiscal year 1938-39, which first installment is or up to the time of its payment had been a lien on the same real estate. (C) The payment of the delinouent taxes mentioned in subsection (B) hereof, shall consist of an amount equal to all delinquent taxes in full, plus interest on the delinquent taxes at 7% per annum, which interest at said rate shall be computed and payable from the date or dates of delinquency to the date of payment, but shall not be computed from a date earlier than July 1,1936. (D) All rights granted under this ordinance to pay delinquent taxes, in the manner herein set, forth, shall ekpire at the close of business December 31,1938. ,(E) The rights and privileges granted under this,Ordinance are cumulative and in addition to any and -gall rights and privileges granted by other Ordinances of the City of Azusa and by other applicable law, and afford such additional rights and privileges as an alternative plan for the payment of Azusa City delinquent taxes for the limited period set forth herein terminating on December 31,1938. SECTION 2. The Mayor shall sign this Ordinance and the City Clerk shall attest and certify to the passage, adoption and publication of the same, and shall cause the same to be published once, within fifteen days after its passage, in the Azusa Herald and Pomotropic, a weekly newspaper of general circulation published and circulated in the said city, which news- paper is hereby designated for that purpose, and there- upon and thereafter thirty days after its passage said ordinance shall take effect and be in force.
