AN ORDINP_NCE OF THE CITY OF AZUSA, LOS ANGELES
COUNTY, CALIFORNIA, REQUIRING A PFR?!I^1 TO SELL
MILK, REGULATING MILK SUPPLY AND PRESCRIBING
PENALTY FOR VIOLATION.
The City Council of the City of Azusa, does ordain as
SECTION 1. It shall be unlawful for any person, firm
or corporation, whether as principal or agent, clerk or employee,
either for himself or for any other person, firm or corporation
or otherwise to sell milk from one or more cows within the City of
Azusa unless authorized so to do by an unrevoked permit from the
Health Officer, provided that nothing herein contained shall be con-
strued to require such permit of stores, restaurants and other places
which obtain milk from a producer or distributor who holds such un -
revoked permit. The sale of milk by any person, firm or corporation,
contrary to the provisions of this section shall be deemed unlawful
and a separate violation of this ordinance for each and every day
in which such sales are made. Any person, firm or corporation violating
any of the provisions of this section shall for each violation thereof
be deemed guilty of a misdemeanor and upon conviction bt any court of
competent jurisdiction shall be punishable by a fine of'not more
than $200 or by imprisonment in the Azusa City Jail or in the County
Jail of the County of Los Angeles for a period of not exceeding thirty
days or by both such fine and imprisonment.
SECTION 2. It shall be the duty of the Health Officer
or his assistants to see to it that the requirements of this ordinance
are fulfilled and that the milk mentioned in Section 1 hereof is being
produced and handled under sanitary conditions. Any permit issued
pursuant to this ordinance may be revoked by the Health Officer
if ever and whenever in his opinion this ordinance is violated.
Whenever the permit of any permit holder is revoked, such permit
holder shall make no further sales of milk except upon authority
so to do and under a new permit.
SECTION 3. All ordinances and parts of ordinances
in conflict with this ordinance and heretofore passed and adopted
by the City of Azusa or by the City Council or by any Board of
Trustees thereof, shall be, and the same are,hereby repealed inso-
far as said other ordinances or parts of ordinances conflict or are
inconsistent with the provisions of this ordinance, which repeal
shall be effective as of the effective date of this ordinance.
SECTION 4. The Mayor shall sign this ordinance and
the City Clerk shall attest and certify to the passage, adoption
and publication of the same, and shall cause same to be published
once within 15 days after its passage in the Azusa Herald and Pomo-
tropic, a weekly newspaper of general circulation published and cir-
culated in the City of Azusa, which said newspaper is hereby
designated for that purpose, and thereupon and thereafter thirty
days after its passage this Ordinance shall take effect and be in
force.

meeting of the City Council of the City of Azusa, County
of Los Angeles, State of California, duly and regularly
held on the / ay of '1/Gz y-1939, in the regular Council
Chambers in said City of Azusa, Los Angeles County, California;
that said Ordiance was regularly passed and adopted by said
City Council, signed by the mayor and attested by the City
Clerk of said City at a regular meeting of said City Council
so held in the regular Council Chambers on the j ±F– day of
1939, and that the same was passed and adopted by
