AN ORDINANCE RELATING TO ELECTRICAL
INSTALLATIONS.
The City Council of the City of Azusa, California,
does ordain as follows:
Section 1. When the Chief Electrical Inspector
finds that a material, manner of construction or in-
stallation, is as safe for use as that required by
that certain ordinance of this city known and designated
as Ordinance No. 348, and complies with standards now
or hereafter prescribed by the United States War
Production Board, or other authorized Federal Agency,
such material, manner of construction or installation
may be used in lieu of that required by said Ordinance
No. 348.•
f9ectlon 2. In determining the safety of arty
proposed alternative use of material, manner of
construction, or installation, the Chief Electrical
Inspector may require such physical, chemical, and
other tests as to him seem necessary to establish
acceptability. The applicant shall pay the entire
costs of such teats.
Section 3. At least once every month the
Chief Electrical Inspector shall file with the City
Council a list of all alternate types of construction
and substitute materials which have been approved by
him five or more days prior to the filing of the list
and not theretofore reported.
Oection 4. This Ordinance shall cease to be in
effect six months after the termination of the present
war. At such time said Ordinance No. 348 shall read
as if this ordinance had never been passed.
Section 5. A state of war exists in the United
States and by reason thereof many essential materials
are vitally needed in war industries and the War
Production Board has issued suggested standards of
electrical installation which are as safe as those
prescribed in said Ordinance No. 348 without the undue
use of more essential war materials than is necessary.
Some of these standards are at variance with those set
forth in said Ordinance No, 348. If this ordinance
does not take immediate effect, then either
defense housing in the city must come to a stand-
still or vital war material needed for war industries
must be unnecessarily wasted in the construction of
residences# y reason of the foregoing facts this
ordinance is urgently required for the public peace,
health and safety and shall therefore take effect
Immediately upon the passage hereof.
.6ection 6: The City Clerk shall attest to the
adoption of this ordinance and shall cause the same
to be published once in the Azusa Herald & Pomotropio,
within the time and in the manner provided by law;
and the same shall become effective immediately upon
the .adoption hereof:
