HomeMy WebLinkAboutOrdinance No. 370ORDINANCE NO. 370 AN ORDINANCE RELATING TO PLUMBING INSTALLATIONS. The City Council of the City of Azusa, California, does ordain as follows: -Section 1• When the Chief Plumbing Inspector .finds that a material, manner of construction or Instal- lation, is as safe and sanitary for use.as that required by that cartain ordinance of this city known and de$ig- nated as rdinance No. 347, and complies with standards now or hereafter prescribed by the United States ?Par Production Board, or other authorized Federal Agency, such material, manner of construction or installation may be used in lieu of that required by said Ordinance Roo 347. Section 2: In determining the safety and sanitation of any proposed alternative use of material, manner of construction, or installation, the Chief Plumbing Inspector may require such physical, chemical and other tests as to him seem necessary to establish acceptability. The applicant shall pay the entire cost of such tests. eotion At least once every month the Chief vlumbing Inspector shall file.with the City Council a list of all alternate types of construction and substitute materials which have been approved by him five or more days prior to the filing of the list and not theretofore reported. Section 4: This Ordinance shall cease to be in effect six months after the termination of the present war. At such time said Ordinance No. 347 shall read as if this ordinance had never been passed. otion A state of war exists in the nited States and by reason thereof many essential mater- �als are vitally needed in war industries and the War reduction Board has issued suggested standards of plumb- ing installation which are as safe as those prescribed in said Ordinance No. 347, and as sanitary, without the undue use of more essential war materials than is necessary. Some of these standards are at variance with those set forth in said Ordinance No. 347. If this ordinance does not take effect immediately, then either defense housing in the City must come to a standstill or vital rwe.re material needed for war industries must be unnecessarily wasted in the con- struction of residences. By reason of the foregoing facts this ordinance is urgently required for the immediate preservation of the public peace, health and safety and shall therefoisektake effect immediately upon the passage thereof. Section 6: The City Clerk shall attest to the adoption of this ordinance and shall cause the same to be published once in the Azusa Herald & Pomotropie, within the time and in the manner pro- vided by law; and the same shall become effective immediately upon the ad Attest: A.
