AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF
THE CITY OF AZUSA, LOS ANGELES COUNTY,
CALIFORNIA ESTABLISHING A CURFEW FOR
PERSONS UNDER THE AGE OF EIGHTEEN
YEARS AND PRESCRIBING PENALTIES FOR
VIOLATION.
The City Council of the City of Azusa does ordain as follows:
Section 1. Every person under the age of 18 years who
loiters about the public streets, avenues, alleys parks or public
places within the City of Azusa, Los Angelce County, California,
between the hour of 10:00 o'clock P. M. and the time of sunrise
of the following day when notaccompanied by his or her parent
or legal guardian having legal custody and control of such person,
or by the spouse of such person which spouse is of the age of
twenty-one years or over, is guilty of a misdemeanor.
Section 2. Every parent, guardian or other person having
the legal care, custody or control of any person under the age of
eighteen years, who allows or permits such person under the age
of eighteen years to violate any of the provisions of this Ordinance,
is guilty of a misdemeanor.
Section 3. Any violation of this Ordinance or of any
9rovision thereof is unlawful and punishable by a fine not exceeding
300.00 or by imprisonment in the Azusa City Jail or in the Los
Angeles County Jail for a period not to exceed three months or by
both such fine and imprisonment.
Section 4. If any section, subsection, sentence, clause or
phrase of this Ordinance is, for any reason, held to be invalid or
unconstitutional,such holding or decision shall not affect the
validity of the remaining portions of this Ordinance. The City
Council of the City of Azusa does hereby declare that it would
have enacted this Ordinance and each section, subsection, sentence,
clause or phrase thereof, irrespective of the fact that any one or
more other sections, subsections, sentences, clauses or phrases
be declared or held invalid or unconstitutional.
Section 5. The Mayor shall sign this Ordinance and the
City Clerk shall attest same and certify to the passage, adoption
and publication of the same; and shall cause the same to be
jublished once, within fifteen days after its passage, in the
Azusa Herald and Pomotropic, a weekly newspaper of general
circulation published and circulated in the City of Azusa, which
said newspaper is hereby designated for that purpose, and thereupon
and thereafter thirty days after its passage this Ordinance shall
take effect and be inforcd..

I, Mae A. Hynes, City Clerk of the City of Azusa, Los
Angeles County, California, do hereby certify that the
foregoing Ordinance was duly introduced, placed upon its first
reading and fully read at a regular meeting of the City Council
of said City on January 6, 1947 held in the regular Council
Chambers of said City Council in said City; that thereafter
said Ordinance was duly and regularly passed and adopted by
said Council, s � ned and approved by the Mayor and attested
by the City Clerk of said City at a regular meeting of said
City Council so held in the regular council chambers of said
Council on January 20, 1947, and that the same was passed and
adopted by the following vote of the Council:
AYES: Councilmen Nasser, Jumper, Memmesheimer,
Malone and Lamm.
NOES: Councilmen None
ABSENT: Councilmen None
I do further certify that I caused said Ordinance to be
published prior to the expiration of t15 days from the passage
thereof in the Azusa Herald and Pomotropic on January 23, 1947,
a newspaper of general circulation, printed, published and
circulated in said City of Azusa, and the same was published in
accordance with law.

Ordinance, attached hereto and a part hereof, is a true and
correct copy of saia Ordinance.
