ORDINANCE NO. 1152
AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF TIIE CITY
OF AZUSA, COUNTY OF LOS ANGELES, STATE OF
CALIFORNIA, ESTABLISHING A CITY JAIL OF THE
CITY OF AZUSA.
The City Council of the City of Azusa does hereby ordain
I as follows:
Section 1. The city jail for the City of Azusa shall
consist of those certain cell blocks located in the west
wing of the City Hall, being located immediately east of
the Police Department of the City of Azusa.
Section 2. This ordinance is hereby declared to be an
emergency measure necessary for the immediate preservation
of the public peace, health and safety, and shall take effect
immediately. The following is a statement of the facts
showing the urgency: There has heretofore been no jail
legally established in the City of Azusa and it is essential
for the welfare and for the police protection of the citizens
of the City of Azusa that an official jail be established for
the incarceration of prisoners and for the purpose of enforcing
the police regulations of the City of Azusa and, in order to
do so, it is essential that this ordinance be enacted and be
effective immediately.
Section 3. The Mayor shall sign this ordinance and the
City Clerk shall attest the same and certify as to the passage
and adoption hereof and shall cause the same to be published
once in the Azusa Herald and Pomotropic. a weeklv newsnaner

I, M. A. Hynes , City Clerk of the City of Azusa, Los
Angeles County, California, do hereby certify that the fore-
going ordinance was duly introduced at a regular meeting of
the City Council of the City of Azusa on the 16th day of
February ,195 3 and was duly and regularly passed and
adopted by the City Council, signed and approved by the
Mayor, attested by the City Clerk, at a regular meeting held
on the 16th gay of February , 1953_ ; that the same was
passed and adopted by the following vote of the"Council:
AYES: COUNCILMEN: Jackson, Hernandez, Seltzer, Memmesheimer,"Jones
NOES: COUNCILMEN: None
ABSENT: COUNCILMEN: None
I do further certify that I caused said Ordinance to be
published prior to the expiration of fifteen days from the
passage thereof in the Azusa Herald and Pomotropic, a newspaper.,:
of general circulation, printed, published and circulated in
the City of Azusa, on the 19th day of r'ebruary
and that the same was published in accordance with law.
