The City Council of the City of Azusa met in regular session at the above time and place. Present at roll call: Councilman: Johnson, Mace, Muehe, Meier, City Attorney and City Clerk. Absent: Councilman: Demmitt . ' The minutes of the last re- gular meeting of January 20, BIDS ON ORP.NGE AVENUE 1930 were read and approved IYPROVEMENT. as read. This being the time fixed for opening bids for certain work on certain portions of Orange Avenue and certain other streets and avenues within the City of Azusa, as contemplated by Resolution of Intention No. 1192, passed by this City Council on the 9th day of December, 1929. The City Council, in open session, publicly opened, examined and declared all sealed bids received for said. work, at the prices specified in the proposals submitted and on file in the office of the City Clerk, at the following total prices, to-i^:it: The City Clerk announced that she had received one bid in response to the Notice published in the Azusa Herald for the City's legal printing. Moved by Councilman Johnson, seconded by coundilman Muehe that the bid be now opened, examined and public- ly declared. AZUSA HERALD January 31, 1930 Bid for City Printing. For all publications 90 Cents a column inch, (9 8-roint lines) for first publication; 80 Cents a column inch, (9 8 -Point lines), for each additional insertion of same notice. Moved by Councilman Muehe, seconded by Councilman Mace that same be re- ferred to the Audit and Finance Committee for checking. A.Communication from J. T. Gordon was read, regarding the construction of a suitable bridge over storm drains on North side of Sierra Madre Avenue. Moved by Councilman Muehe, seconded by Councilman Mace that this matter Bid referred to the Audit and Finance Committee. Communication from J. T. Moved by Councilman Mace, seconded by Councilman Muehe that the Mayor and City Clerk be autliorized to sign agreement between the Cit;r of Azusa ' and the A. T. and S. F. Railway Comp- any whereby the A. T. and S. F. Rail- iray Company grant the City of Azusa 'permission to install a three -wire, .single phase, fifty cycle, 2300 -volt wire, crossing over their tracks at Dalton avenue, Azusa. Carried by the following vote of the Council: Ayes: Councilmen: John- son, Mgce, Muehe, Meier. Noes: None Absent: Councilman: Demmitt. A Communication from the Plumbing Inspectors Association was read. A petition signed by thirty-five property owners on Foothill Blvd., was presented, requestin? that the City Council consider the Foothill Boulevard assessment on the basis of 65% for property fronting on the Boulevard and 35/O'f for property in Zones 2 and 3. Moved by Councilman Muehe, seconded by Councilman Johnson that action be deferred in this matter until such time as the Engineer has figur- ed the cost of the imnrovement. A petition :•rith 56 signatures attach- ed there -to was presented, request- ing the Council to use their influence in securing employment for local men on, the Foothill. Boulevard Improvement. Councilman Muehe offered a resolution entitled: A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AZUSA ADDRESSED TO TTIB CONTRACTORS AND SUB -CONTRACTORS PER- FORMING THE 1,7ORK ON FOOTTIILT_, BOULEVARD AND OTHER STREETS. Moved by Councilman Mace, seconded by Councilman Johnson that this resolution Communication ordered filed. Mayor and 6ity Clerk authorized to sign agreement. P 217 L. M. Kauffey to represent the City of Azusa in Plumbing Inspectors Assn. Lamp Contract referrod to Purchasing Committee. Petition regarding Foot- hill Boulevard Improvement Assessment deferred. Petition presented. R?;SOLUTION NO. 1200 ADOPTED. Moved by Councilman Muehe, seconded by Councilman Johnson that L. M. Kauffey be instructed to represent the City of Azusa in this organiza- tion and the City Clerk authorized to pray the membership fee of $5.00. Carried by'the following vote of the Council: Ayes: Councilmen: John- son, i:Iace, Muehe, bleier. Noes: None. Absent: Councilman: Demmitt. Moved by Councilman Muehe, seconded by Councilman Mace that the Mayor be instructed and authorized to write the Railroad Commission of the State of California requesting permission to construct a grade crossing at grade across tracks of the A. T. and S. F. Railway Company at the point where Virginia avenue crosses same. Moved by Councilman Johnson, seconded by Councilman Mace that the exten- sion of time for the co-pletion of work on Coney P;venue and other_ streets in the City of Azusa b3� grant- ed to Kuhn Brothers, Inc., by the Street Superintendent under date of January 28, 1930, be hereby approved and ratified. Carried by the following vote of the Council: Ayes: Councilman: Johnson, Mace, 'a'uehe, Meier. Noes: None. Absent: Councilman: Demmitt. Moved by Councilman I:Iuehe, seconded by Councilman Mace that the following bills be allowed and warrants ordered drawn upon the Treasury for the Same. Carried by the following vote of the Countil: Ayes: Councilmen: John- son, Mace, Muehe, Meier. Noes: None. Absent: Councilman Demmitt.
