THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AZUSA, IN TH-; COUNTY OF LOS ANGELES, STP., -TE OF CALIFORNIA DOES ORDAIN AS FOLLO!%S. SECTION I. MILLIARD ROOM DEFINED. For the Purpose of this Ordinance a Public Billiard Room is defined to be any place open to the public where billiards, bagatelle or pool is played, or in which any billiard, bagatelle or pool table'is kept and per- sons are permitted to play or do play thereon, whether any com- pensationoor reward is charged. for the use of such table or not. SECTION 2. HOURS FOR CLOSING. No owner, manager or proprietor or other person having charge of any public Billiard room shall keep the same open or allow or permit the same to be kept open or allow or permit; any game to be played. therein from Eleven O'clock P.M. Saturday of each week, until Six O'clock A.M. of .the following Monday and from Two O'clock A.M. until Six O'clock A.M. of any other day, or allow or permit any person extent such owner, manager, proprietor or person in charge thereof or the servants regulary employed in and about the same,, to be or remain therein between the hours aforesaid. SECTION 3. RESPONSIBILITY OF PROPRIETOR., OWNER, MANAGER. No owner, manager, proprietor or other person in charge of any public billiard room, shall allow or permit any person under the age of eighteen (18) years to be in, remain in, enter or visit such place unless such .minor person is accompanied by one of his parents or by his legal guardian. Every owner., manager, proprietor or other person in charge of a public billiard room in which any alcoholic beverages are sold, dispensed or offered for sale, ort, such billiard room adjoining a building wherein alcoholic beverages are sold, dispensed, or offered for sale, and In which there is an opening connectine'e,said public billiard room with the room in which alcoholic beverages are sold, dispensed or offered. for sale, shall prohibit and prevent every person under the age of twenty-6nE,(21) years from being in., remaining in, entering or visiting such public billiard room. SECTION 5. SOCIAL BILLIARD CLUB DEFINED. As used in this Ordinance, a social Billiard Club, means a bona-fied social club, with a limited membership, into which admission cannot be obtained by any person at his pleasure, and the sole or main purpose of which is to furnish to its members and to the guests of such members a place in which to play billiards, bagatelle r or pool. Any place which is a public billiard room as defined In Section I of this Ordinance is not a social billiard club. SECTION 6. MINORS AND SOCIAL BILLIARD CLUBS. No person under the age of eighteen (18) years, shall be in, remain in, or visit any social billiard club unless such minor person is accompanied by one of his parents or by his legal guardian. SECTION 7. PENALTY AND EFFECT OF ORDINANCE. Any person violating any of the provisions of this Ordinance shall be deemed 2 W 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10 11 12 13 14 15 16 17 18 19 20 21 22 23 24 25 guilty of a misdemeanor and upon conviction thereof, shall be Punished by a fine of not more than Five Hundred 0500.00) Dollors or by imprisonment in the City and/or County Jail for a period .of not more than six (6) months, or by such fine and imprisonment. The Mayor shall sign this Ordinance and the City Clerk. shall attest and certify to the passage and. adoption of the same and cause the same to be published once within 15 days after its passage in the Azusa Herald and Pomotropic, a weekly news- paper of general circulation, published and circulated In said City of Azusa and thirty days after its passage the same shall be in lull force and effect.
