Present at roll call: Councilman: John- son, Mace, ivluene, L4eier, City i''ttorney and City Clerk. Absent: Councilman Demmitt. The minutes of the last regular meeting of April 7, 1930 7ere read and approved as read. The City Clerk reported that the returns of the General.Iriunicipal r Election held on Pilonday, the 14th day of April, 1930 ,,in the City of Azusa, California were then and had been in her possession in the envelopes containing them, in the same condition as when received, and.the said Clerk presente� said returns to the Cit'_.* Council at this meeting. /'It was thereupon moved by councilman Muehe, seconded by C rnzncil.man Mace that the City Council proceed forth- with to canvass said returns. The motion was adopted.by the following vote: Ayes: Cotncilmen: Johnson, Mace, Muehe Meier. Noes: None. Absent: Councilman ,,Demmitt. Said motion being carried, the City Council then proceeded forthwith ' to publicly examine and canvass said beturns.and upon the completion of said canvass by said Council it ap- peared that the whole number of votes cast in said City of Azusa at said � election was 1057. The City Council of the City of l:zusa do resolve as follows: Whereas, a General Municipal Election was held and conducted in the City of Azusa, County of Los ,',ns'eles, State of California, on'Monday, the 14th day of April, 1930, as required by law; and WHEREAS, it appears that notice of said election was duly and legally given and that there was one voting pre- cinct established for holding said election, consisting of consolidation of regular City Precincts for holding State and County elections, as the same were established by the Board of Supervisors of Los An7eles County on the 29th day of December, 1925, and now being. on record in Book 87-A of the minutes of the said Board of Supervisors; that elec- tion officers were appointed and election supplies furnished, and that in all respects said election was held and conduct- ed and the returns thereof made and declared, in time, form and manner as required by the General Laws of the Stc:te of California governing elections in Cities of the fifth and sixth classes; and WHEREAS, the City Council of the Cita* of Azusa met at the Council Chamber of said Council on ' Monday the ?1st day of April, 1930, to canvass the returns of said election and install. the newly elected officers, whereupon the said Council found that the number of Votes cast, the names of the persons voted for, the result of said election and other matter required by law, to be as hereinafter stated, NO!'! Also that Joseph C. liluehe was elected to the office of Member of the City Council of the City of Azusa, California, for the short term of two (2) years. Also that i;,?rs. ;tae A. Hynes was elected to the office of City Clerk of the City of k.zusa, California, for the un- expired term of two (2) years. AND BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the City Clerk shall immediately make and deliver to each of such persons so elected a Certificate of Election signed by her and duly authenticated; that she shall also impose the constitutional oath of office upon said person so elected as Iviember of the City Council ofsaid City, and City Clerk, and :;hall have them subscri?�e thereto �,n,? file the same in her office; whereupon, each and all. of said persons so elected to said respective offices shall be inducted into said respective office to vahich. they have been elected. The Clerk called attention of the City Council to the fact that this is the time and place fixed for the hearing objections in the matter of confirming the assessment upon Coney Amenue and certain portions of other streets and avenues provided by Re- solution of Intention No. 1174. 'The Mayor then inquired if any written objections had been filed with the No. protests ' Clerk. She reported that no written filed on Coney protests or objections had been filed. Avenue Assess - The Mayor then inquired if there was ment. anyone present who desired to protest or object to said assessment, and no one responded, whereupon Councilman Mace introduced a resolution entitled: A RESOLUTION OF T?F.. A letter addressed to the Council from the League of California Municipalities with reference to the meeting of the Committee on Public Safety was rear? and ordered placed on file. A report, submitted b -r a Committee consistin;_. of representatives of the various cities in the San Gabriel Valley,on the Sewage Disposal problem, was read. Moved by Co lne lman I:Iuehe, seconded by Councilman Johnson and unanimously carried that the City Attorney be in- structed to prepare a resolution enabl.e- ing the City to join, with the other Cities in the San G:mbriel Valley, to obtain the report of Engineers with reference to Sewage Disposal in the Valley, and more particularly for Azusa, and submit same at next meeting. Mr. Skeels of the Azusa Business Men's association., addressed the Council and requested a donation to decorate the Jtreets for the cele- bration now beinf; planned in honor of the completion of the Foothill Boulevard. Moved by Councilman Waco, seconded by Councilman Johnson that the matter be referred to the Audit and Finance Committee.
