HomeMy WebLinkAboutMinutes - May 19, 1930 - CCr CITY HALL, AZUSA, CALIFORNIA, MAY 19, 1930, 7:30 P.M. The City Council of the City of Azusa met in regular session at the above time and place. Present at roll call: Councilmen: Mace, Johnson, Williams, Muehe, Meier, City Attorney and City Clerk. The minutes of the last regular meeting of May 5, 1930 were read and approved as read. The Clerk called attention of the City Council to the fact that this is the time and place fixed for the hearing objections in the matter of confirdlingthe assessment upon Orange Avenue and certain portions of other Streets and avenues provided by Resolution of Intention No. 1192. 271 Confirmation of,assess- ment on Orange Avenue. The mayor then inquired if any written ob- jections had beentiled with the clerk. She reported that no written protests or objections had been filed. The Mayor then inquired if there was any one present who desired to protest or object to said assessment, and no one re- sponded, whereupon Councilman Mace offered a resolution entitled: A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AZUSA CONFIRMING THE ASSESSMENT FOR THE I14PROVEMENT OF CERTAIN PORTIONS OF ORANGE AVENUE AND CERTAIN OTHER STREETS AND AV'E'NUES WITHIN SAID CITY. Moved by Counbilman Mace, seconded by Councilman Johnson that this resolution be adopted'as read and numbered Resolution No. 1211. Carried by the following vote of the Council: Ayes: Councilmen: Mace, Johnson, Williams, Muehe, Meier. Noes: None. Absent: None. It was moved by Councilman Muehe, seconded by Councilman Mace, that the diagram of the assessment district presented by the City Engineer showing the respective lots, pieces and parcels of land to be assessed to pay for the costs and expenses of the improve- ment contemplated by Resolution of Intention No. 1158, passed by the City Council on August 5th, 1929, be approved, which motion was carried by the following vote, to -wit: Ayes: Councilmen: Mace, Johnson, Williams, Muehe, Meier. Noes: None. Absent: Council- man: None. ' Mr. Kressly's letter concerning the Enid and Vernon Avenue crossings was presented. Moved by Councilman Johnson, seconded by Councilman Mace that the Street Superintend- ent be instructed to improve the approaches, on both Enid and Vernon Avenues, where same cross the Pacific Electric tracks. Also that the City Attorney be instructed to write the Railroad Commission concerning same. Carried by the following vote of the Council: Ayes: Councilmen: Mace, Johnson, 7Jilliams, Muehe, Meier. Moved by CotiAcilman Mace, seconded by Councilman Williams that the City Council confirm action taken by Street Superintend- ent in granting a sixty day extension of time to Griffith Co., Inc. in order that they might. complete the improvement of Foot- hill Boulevard, under Resolution of Intention No. 1158. Carried by the following vote of the Council: Ayes: Councilmen: Mace, Johnson, Williams, Muehe, Meier. Noes: None. Absent: None. The City Clerk announced that she had received two bids for the collection of garbage. Moved by Councilman Williams, seconded by Councilman Mace that the bids be now opened, examined and publicly declared. City Council Azusa. I hereby agree to pick up garbage as per old contract, for the next 12 months, for the sum of :40.00 per month. P. M. Russell May 19, 1930. Salisbury and the City 2QJAW 275 Councilman Muehe offered Resolution entitled: A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AZUSA, CALIFORNIA, AGREEING TO JOIN RES7LUTION NO. WITH OTHER CITIES AND MUNICIPALITIES LOCATED 1212 ADOPTED IN SAN GABRIEL VALLEY IN LOS ANGELES COUNTY. CALIFORNIA, TO UNDERTAKE A SURVEY OF SEWAGE DISPOSAL INSAID VALLEY AND IN THE SAID CITY OF AZUSA, AND AGREEING TO PAY ITS PROPORTION- ATE PART THEREOF. Moved by Councilman Williams, seconded by Councilman Mace that this resolution be adopted as read and numbered Resolution No. 1212. Moved by Councilman Johnson, seconded by Councilman Muehe that the Board of Public ' Works, together with the City Attorney, Board of Public prepare an amendment to section 4 of Works to amend Ordinance No. 261 concerning the fee Section 4 of charged for a Building Permit. Griffith, addressed the Council on behalf of the Azusa Foothill Citrus Co. Mr. C. A. Griffith offering to plant Cocos Plumosa Palms on addressed Council Foothill Boulevard from Dalton Avenue, west to the Santa Fe Tracks. The Council expressed their appreciation of the splendid cooperation shown by the Azusa Foothill Citrus Company, in endeavoring to make Azusa one of the most beautiful cities in the San Gabriel Valley. Councilman Muehe offered Resolution entitled: A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AZUSA, CALIFORNIA, AGREEING TO JOIN RES7LUTION NO. WITH OTHER CITIES AND MUNICIPALITIES LOCATED 1212 ADOPTED IN SAN GABRIEL VALLEY IN LOS ANGELES COUNTY.
