HomeMy WebLinkAboutMinutes - July 7, 1930 - CCCITY HALL, AZUSA, CALIFORNIA. JULY 7, 1930 7:30 P.M. 291 The City Council of the City of Azusa met in regular session at the above time and place. Present at roll call: Councilmen: Mace, Johnson, Muehe, Lieier, City Attorney and City Clerk. Absent: Councilman: Arilliams. The minutes of the last regular meeting of June 16, 1930 r. -ere read and approved as read. The Clerk notified the Council that this was the time and place fixed for the Hearing on List of hearing in the matter of the list of Unpaid Assessments unpaid assessments filed by the Superin- tendent of Streets for the improvement of Orange Avenue and other streets in the City of Azusa, as per Resolution of intention No. 1192. The Clerk also notified the Council that notice of such hearing had been published and posted as required by law and that affidavits of the same were on file in her office. The Clerk reported that no written pro- tests were filed. The Mayor then inquired if there were any person or persons present who wished to make objections e:hy bonds should not be issued upon the security of the unpaid assessments. No one responded. ' Councilman Muehe then offered a resolution fixing the unpaid aggregate, determining that bonds should be issued and fixing the RESOLUTION 1216 demoninpLtions of said bonds, and moved ADOPTED. its adoption, which motion being duly seconded by Councilman Mace, was passed by the following vote, to -wit: Ayes: Councilman: Mace, Johnson, Muehe, Meier. Noes: None. Absent: Council- man Williams. An invitation from the City Council of Redondo Beach was presented. Councilman Williams entered the meeting and took his seat. Councilman Mace presented a resolution entitled: A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AZUSA PROVIDING FOTi THE TRANSFER OF FOUR HUNDRED NINETYDOLLARS AND SIXTY- FOUR CENTS (490.64) FROM THE FOOTHILL BOULEVARD IMPROVFMENT FUND TO THE GENERAL FUND. Moved by Councilman "luehe, seconded by Councilman Williams that this resolution be adopted as read and numbered Resolution No. 1217.. Carried by the following vote of the Council: Ayes: Councilmen: Mace, Johnson, Williams, Muehe, Leier. Noes: None. Absent: None. The City Clork announced that the follow- ing bid was filed in her office: June 26, 1930. To the City Council, Azusa, Calif. Gentlemen: RESOLUTION 1217 ADOPTED. I wish to offer the City of Azusa Twenty -rive hundred dollars ($2500.00), all cash, for that piece of property commonly known as the "Old Reservoir Site" and described as per enclosed clipping from the Azusa Herald. Enclosed please find certified check for x250.00 it being ten per cent of the amount of the bid. Yours truly, Leland S. Carpenter, Superintendent of School, expressing Letter from C. C. his appreciation for the use of the Carpenter ordered filed Swimming pool and the splendid coopera- tion offered the school by I}9r. All expense connected thereto to be borne by the Azusa Foot- hill Citrus Company. Carried by the following vote of the Council: Ayes: Councilmen: Mace, Johnson, Williams Muehe, Meier. Absent: None. Noes: None. Councilman Johnson offered the following resolution: RESOLUTION OF CONDOLENCE Street Superintendent to perform work for Azusa Foothill Co. All expenses to be borne by the Company. WHEREAS, in His Infinite 'Nisdom, the Supreme Ruler of the Uninerse has seen fit to summon to that bourn from which no traveler returneth and has removed frdm�our midst,'Plilliam Herbert Saunders, more affectionately known to his Azusa friends and neighbors as Steve Saunders, and WHEREAS, the late Steve Saunders was for many years active in all community activities for the up - building of the City and the promotion of the content- ment and general welfare of its citizens, and WHEREAS, the deceased, Steve Saunders was for many years a valued employee and member of the Azusa Fire Department devoting his daily energies to its upbuilding and efficient operation, NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the members of the City Council of the City of Azusa, California, at a regular session assembled this 7th day of July, ' 1930 that we express herewith our hearfelt sympathy to the members of the bereaved family in the loss of a good father, faithful husband and staunch friend, and BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that this resolution be spread upon our minutes and a copy thereof sent to Mrs. Harriet Saunders, the widow. I hereby certify that the foregoing resolution was duly and regularly adopted by the City Council of the City of Azusa at a regular meeting held July 7, 1930, by the following vote of the Council: AYES: Councilmen: Mace, Johnson, Williams, Muehe, Meier. Councilman Williams offered a resolution entitled: A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AZUSA OFFERING ITS COOPERATION TO THE PROMOTERS OF THE "INTERNATIONAL CITY", IN BRINGING THEIR PROJECT IN THE CITY OF AZUSA TO A SUCCESSFUL ISSUE. Moved by Councilman Johnson, seconded by Councilman Muehe that this resolu- tion be adopted as read and numbered Resolution No. 1220.
