Present st roll cnll: Councilmen: Mace, Johnson, 'Nilliams, Muehe, Meier, City Attorney & City Clerk. The minutes of the last regular meeting of May 18, 1931 were read and approved as read. ' A communication from the Associated Advertisers was read and referred to the City Attorney. A co?mnunication from F. C. Eaton, Chief Engineer, for Los Angeles County Flood Control, was read. Moved by Councilman Iaiuehe, seconded by Councilman Mace and duly carried that the City Clerk be instructed to write Mr. Eaton informing him of the Council's willingness to report to him proposed subdivisions which Pffect the Flood Control Channels. A communication from the Automobile Club of Southern California informing the Council of the change in "Speed Limit" Laws, which will necissitate the changing of signs, was read. Moved by Councilman Mace, seconded by Councilman Johnson and duly carried that the City Cleric be instructed to request a representative of the Automobile Cluh to come out and make an estimate of the cost of chang- ing signs, to be submitted to the Council at the next meeting. An application for a two weeks vaca- tion, submitted by C• C. Kimbrell, beginning July 4, 1031, was read. Moved by Councilman Muehe, seconded by Councilman 'Milliams that same be referred to the Police and Sanitation Committee, with power to act. Carried by the Following vote of the Council: Ayes: Councilmen: Mace, Johnson, Williams, Muehe, Meier. Noes: None. Absent: None. A com"unication from Vosburg Brothers, Inc. relative to the expiration of Insurance Policies was read. Moved by Councilman Johnson, seconded by Councilman Mace that same be re- ferred to the Audit and Finance Committee with Gower to act. Carried by the following vote of the Council: Aves: Councilmen: Mace, ' Johnson, Williams, IvIuehe, Meier. Noes: None. Absent: None. The Clerk announced that she hpd received three bids in answer to "Notice Inviting Bids for Removing and Hauling Garbage from the City of Azusa." Moved by Councilman Johnson, seconded by Councilman Mace and duly carried that -the bids be now opened, examined an d publicly declared: Communication referred to City Attorney. City Clerk instructed to write Mr. Eaton regarding Flood Control. Channels. City Clerk instructed to request a represen- tative of Automobile Club of Solthern Calif to submit Estimate. Application of C. C. Kimbrell referred to Police &Sanitation with power to act. Com-unication referred to Audit Pu Finance Committee "Fith po,,•1er to act. You will find inclosed, check for S210.00, which I :rill nay the City of Azusa for Contract of removing garbage for proceeding year. If necessary will furnish further securities as to comply with your requests. I am equipped to render immediate service and have Garberze Transport License for County of Los Angeles. Moved by Councilman Johnson, seconded Mayor Meier appointed J. C. Muehe a member of the Library Board, to serve four ,years, from July 1, 1931 to June 30, 1935. Moved by Councilman V!illiams, seconded by Councilman Muehe that the matter of improving the parkway on Santa Fe Avenue between Azusa and San Gabriel Avenues be referred to the Board of Public ""orks with power to act. Carried by the following vote of the Council: Ayes: Councilmen: Place, Johnson, ."Iilliams, Muehe, Meier. Noes: None. Absent: None. by Councilman l""ill.iams that the bid of R. B. Sells be accepted subject to his entering into a contract to be approved by the City Attorney, and providing the Bond, and meeting the 1 requirements of the Notice Inviti.ng Bids. Carried by the following vote of the Council: Ayes: Councilmen: Mace, Johnson, l'"illiams, Muehe, Meier. Noes: None. Absent: None. Mayor Meier appointed J. C. Muehe a member of the Library Board, to serve four ,years, from July 1, 1931 to June 30, 1935. Moved by Councilman l^;illiams, seconded by Councilman Mace that this resolution be adopted as read and numbered Resolution 1263.
