Present at roll call: Councilman Johnson, Williams, Muehe, Meier, City Attorney and City Clerk. Absent: Councilman Mace. The minutes of the last regular meeting of July 6, 1931 were read and approved as read. �L RIi The matter of speed signs under the new ordinance was presented. Moved by Councilman Muehe, seconded by Councilman Johnson that the City Clerk be authorized to draw a Warrant in favor of the Azusa Valley Savings Bank and the First National Bank of Azusa in the amount of $13.00 each. Carried by the following vote of the Council: Ayes: Councilmen: Johnson, Williams, Muehe, IeIeier. Noes: None. Absent: Councilman Mace. A communication signed by J. R. Pinkstaff asking a refund on double assessment was read. Moved by Councilman Williams, seconded by Councilman Johnson that the City Clerk be authorized to draw a warrant in favor of J. R. Pinkstaff in the amount of $26.70 Carried by the following vote of the Council: Ayes: Councilman: Johnson, Williams, Muehe, Meier. Noes: None. A,,sent: Councilman Mace. A request for a two weeks vacation was made by C. E. Gauldin and James Rogers, Sr. Moved by Councilman Muehe, seconded by Councilman Johnson that C. E. Gauldin and James Rogers, Sr. be granted a two weeks vacation with pay. Carried by the following vote of the Council: Ayes: Councilmen: Johnson, Williams, Muehe, Meier. Noes: None. Absent: Councilman Mace. The monthly report of the Los Angeles County Health Department was read and ordered placed on file. The request of Mrs. Whitmer to rent her house on Paramount Avenue to be used as a Rest Home was presented. Moved and carried that the City Clerk be instructed to write Mrs. Whitmer requesting her to take the matter up with the Los Angeles County Health Department. Councilman Muehe offered an ordinance entitled: AN ORDINANCE OF THF: CITY OF AZUSA AMENDING SECTIONS 21 AND 27, OF ORDINANCE NO. 154p City Clerk instruct ed to draw two war- rants in the amount of %3.00 each. City Clerk author- ized to refund to J. R. Pinkstaff ?26.70 Vacations granted. Report filed. OF THE CITY OF AZUSA PROVIDING A SYSTEM FOR THE ASSESS- Ordinance read for MENT, LEVY, AND COLLECTIONS OF TAXES PASSED first time. AND APPROVED THE 24th DAY OF FEBRUARY, 1914. To be placed on its first reading. This ordinance was then read for the first time. Councilman Williams offered an ordinance ' entitled: AN ORDINANCE PROVIDING FOR THE ESTABLISHMENT IN THE CITY OF AZUSA, CALIFORNIA, OF FOUR ZONES, CONSISTING OF VARIOUS DISTRICTS AND -PRESCRIBING THE CLASES OF BUILDINGS, STRUCTURES AND IMPROVEMENTS IN SAID SEVERAL ZONES AND THE USES THEREOF, AND PRESCRIBING THE PENALTY FOR VIOLATION OF THE PROITTSIONS THEREOF. Moved by Councilman Johnson, seconded by Councilman Williams, that the Chief of Police, C. E. Gauldin, be authorized to Chief of Police purchase four Lochryite Tear Gas Guns and authorized to sixteen shells, the total purchase price purchase Tear Gas being $26.80. Buns, Carried by the following vote of the Council: Ayes: Councilmen: Johnson, Williams, Muehe, Meier. Noes: None. Absent: Councilman Mace. Moved by Councilman Johnson, seconded by Councilman Williams, that the following ' bills be allowed and warrants ordered drawn upon the Treasury for same.
